People, trying to empathize: "Oh, there was a time when my husband and I almost got a divorce." ...but you didn't. So you don't know.
I just want to laugh. Like they'd say to a cancer patient, "Oh, I get it. one time I had a lump that had to get biopsied. But it wasn't cancer."
Life is still NOT great for ME--with MY background, who I am. Given everything I had available to me and my wholehearted attempt to be a good church of Christ girl to get the promised rewards, and the decisions I made to improve my life, things could be a whole lot better.
Duh, yeah. They could be worse if: I'd have followed through on suicide. If I couldn't afford psych meds. If I were unemployed. If my kids hated me and sided with their dad (like is happening to my friend)
Somebody I'm acquainted with but not close to asked about my life circumstances right now. I explained the things that were going well and challenges. He said, scoldingly and condescendingly, "Well, always remember that things could be a whole lot worse."
I'm not saying that he's a bad person, or an unworthy person. He deserves love, peace, empathy, kindness, a living wage, JUST LIKE EVERY HUMAN ON THE PLANET. He just doesn't deserve a public stage. #goawayJoshuaHarris#IgnoreJoshuaHarris#theresnothingtoseehere
Ignore him, public, till he works hard, thinks original thoughts, reinvents himself, comes up with something to say, someone to be, someone with an identity besides the one he left behind WAY TOO LATE. #IKDG#JoshuaHarris
What's more boring and ordinary than a used to be evangelical, former pastor getting divorced in his 40s? He's bald w/ a beard and hasn't said anything interesting (even his nonapology was boring) since 1997. Stop paying attention to #JoshuaHarris unless he gets interesting again
I wish everyone would just ignore #JoshuaHarris He had interesting ideas when he was 19 and wrote #IKDG (harmful, tragic, devastating lived realities came from it, but you can't argue that it was INTERESTING in 1997 or whatever.) Now he's boring, normal, ordinary.
