After the remembrance of Henry Nowak in Stockholm today, a 14-year-old attending the event was confronted by police and pressured to leave.

“Are you interested in the extreme right?”

“You could become very exposed and vulnerable.”

“Do you know what you’re getting yourself into?”

“Do your parents know that you’re here?”

If you read one thing today, let it be this.

I had never heard of Kriss Donald until today.

Everyone should read his Wikipedia page. His story is a harrowing symbol of the failures in our countries.

Kriss was just 15 years old when he was abducted from the streets of Glasgow in 2004.

He was kidnapped, tortured, castrated, set on fire, and murdered by a gang of five Pakistani men. He did not know his attackers, and they did not know him.

The gang was seeking revenge for an unrelated nightclub incident the night before. Kriss had no involvement whatsoever.

This case marked the first ever conviction in Scotland for racially motivated murder. Yet the BBC barely covered it - mentioning the case just three times in total, with one report buried behind the opening of a new arts centre.

Three of the killers fled to Pakistan and had to be extradited back to Britain. All five remain in prison, serving life sentences, and have continued to be violent behind bars.

A year before the murder took place, local police had been criticised for failing to tackle rising racial tensions. They even abandoned “Operation Gather” - an investigation into Asian gangs - out of fear of offending ethnic minorities.

Kriss Donald was failed by the police, the media, the government, and the country at large.

His story must be told. The world needs to hear it.

This is an excellent point, and one “the movement” has struggled with for decades.

A cynical man might argue that social media itself functions as a containment system. It allows dissidents to speak just enough to identify themselves, perform just enough to exhaust themselves, and argue just enough to prevent real-world organization.

At the same time, the metapolitical value of social media cannot be dismissed. For all its panoptic dangers, it has helped shift the Overton window in ways that would have been impossible through older channels & institutions alone.

Recognizing the trap, however, is not enough. The real task, as you said, is now to build things that survive outside the feed. Many of us are working toward precisely that.

A timely post, given the state of things.
