Hennepin County Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker’s autopsy determined:

Manner of death: Homicide

Cause of death: Cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression

Fentanyl intoxication and heart disease were listed only as “other significant conditions” — contributing factors, not the primary cause. Baker stood by this exact ruling under oath in court.

The jury convicted on the evidence and this medical determination.
