My neighbor and his wife just bought a white Lexus.

After he lost his job during COVID-19, he combined the savings he had with his wife’s savings. Together, they raised ₦3.5 million and started a foodstuff business.

Every morning, his wife would go to work while he stayed at the shop.

When she returned, she would take over at the shop while he went home to stay with the kids.

They kept doing this every day.

Later, as the business expanded, his wife had to resign from her job and focus fully on the business.

They are almost done with their own building.

And just yesterday, they bought a white Lexus to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary…

One time my husband and I were in a really heated quarrel that spanned days, we ended up seeking counsel from one church elderly couple.

First day of counseling, papa started the session by saying he’s noticed my husband and I and the problem is that my husband gives me too much freedom. My head first do tinrinrin.

He continued by using his marriage as an example, he said his first wife was a stubborn woman that wanted to go to university by all means, so he chased her away and married his second wife. Mama was sat right there 😭

I said “so mummy you don’t have BSc like this, only senior school leaving certificate?”

She nodded her head and smiled

Papa continued and told my husband that no matter what, he should never let me have more money in the marriage, even if it means stopping me from working.

As we got home that day, I went on my knees, begged, and apologized very well to my husband. My husband too went on his knees to beg me and made me promise that I’ll never stop working because he wants to retire early and stay home to be eating my money. 😂

When I was younger, there was a woman in our estate I will never forget.

She was tall, elegant, incredibly beautiful, and very well spoken.

She was also a university graduate with a good job.

Whenever she walked past our house, you couldn’t help but notice her. She dressed beautifully, carried herself with confidence, and spoke English so fluently that everyone respected her.

Then something happened.

Nobody really knew what.

One day, she wasn’t herself anymore.

She started wandering around the estate, usually very early in the morning or around midnight.

And she screamed.

Not ordinary screaming.

She would walk from street to street, shouting at the top of her voice as if she was arguing with people nobody else could see.

Sometimes she would stop in front of a house and scream for several minutes before suddenly walking away.

Parents warned their children:

“If you see her, don’t talk to her. Just go inside.”

But children being children, we were curious.

And there was one rule everybody knew.

If you met her on the road, run.

Because if she saw you and decided to chase you, you were finished.

My cousin, who is 10 years older than me, used to call me every single day whenever I travelled for fieldwork, always at exactly 7:30. I used to find it annoying because I was usually busy working. Sometimes I’d reject the call; other times I’d text, “Busy. Talk tomorrow.”

Then one night, she didn’t call.

I noticed it. The next night came, and still nothing.

So I called her. “Everything okay?”

She laughed. “Yes.”

“Then why haven’t you called?”

There was a pause before she said, “I figured you’re getting older. I didn’t want to become one of those cousins who keeps checking on her grown cousin.”

I went quiet.

All those years, I thought she was calling because she was being clingy.

She was calling because she wanted to know I was okay.

I told her, “You can call me.”

She asked, “Even at 7:30?”

I said, “Especially at 7:30.”

She laughed.

The next evening, my phone rang at exactly 7:30.

This time, I answered before the second ring.😂

Sometimes the things that annoy us are actually expressions of love. We get so used to someone’s presence that we forget not everyone will always be there to check on us. Appreciate the people who genuinely care about you while you still have them.

The evil that this nonsense pastor who wedded my husband and I did together with my husband, my dead mother-in-law, and my father-in-law against me during my wedding was what made my husband succeed in afflicting evil and wickedness on me and escape punishment.

And now God wants to conduct another wedding for me and my husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, here on Facebook in the presence of the whole world, and my husband must obey divine instruction; if not, he will not be given a visa to come to Canada 🇨🇦. It's either he obeys divine instruction by making a video to post on Facebook and on his WhatsApp status confessing that he shall remain faithful to me, his wife, Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, after coming to Canada and to be a good husband to me and a good father to our children, or, in failure to be faithful, he will die with his accomplice committing the immoral act.

If you watch closely, you will notice that it was this Rev. who was putting the wedding ring on my finger instead of my husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue.

This same REV. JOHN AKAHARA, an Anglican pastor in St. Banabas Church, Umudim, in Imo State, Nigeria, was the man who took my virginity at age 18. Then, I was naive about life, even though I knew what sex was all about, but at that age, there were so many things I was ignorant of about sex. He manipulated me into having his way with my body.

First, he came to my father because he was our village church pastor, and we fear and respect our pastors, and he told my father that God told him to assist in my education. Then I had just concluded my secondary school and was waiting to gain admission into a higher institution, and he suggested I enroll in a computer school to gain more knowledge, which my father was pleased with, and he enrolled me in the school and always come to our house to pick me and drop me in school and after school, he would still come and pick me at school and drop me at home and most of the times while driving me home he will branch to some places and at times he will buy things for me and for his family and finally on the day he took advantage of me, he drove me to a place that look like a hotel but not popular place and before he succeeded in his evil act with me, anytime he is driving me he always bring up some immoral discussions that makes me very uncomfortable, more like he is giving me education about sex because he understood i don't know much about sex and when he learned that i was still a virgin he became more desperate to have sexual intercourse with me and he will be telling me it's not painful as I thought and that when he uses cream like Vaseline it won't pain me, and at the end he succeeded and it was the worse day of my life which I can never forget and I regret till this day. And that act happened once with him, if I can remember.

That was where my battles started, and a regret I have struggled with, especially knowing how I desired and prayed to God to get married as a virgin, but that dream was taken away from me by this evil, wicked man, darkness in white clothing, an agent of the devil, an evil agenda in the authority; God shall judge. In Jesus' name, Amen

I started learning furniture making at Ipaja furniture yard at 30, as the only female apprentice there. People would literally stop and stare at me as I worked, but I didn’t care😂

It was tough, my body complained, my complexion darkened but I adjusted. I’m glad I took that decision.

Meet the Eboh bunk bed, named after my bestie in the third frame.
Eboh means Peace in Idoma language.

Disclaimer: I didn’t make the ladder but the shelves and the metal ottoman was from my workshop.

Let me put you on to something (update) that can genuinely change your financial life for good.

Go to the App Store or Google Play Store and download any of these language learning apps: Duolingo, Babbel, or Busuu.

Pick one language and commit to it. French, German, Spanish, or Portuguese. Study consistently for 6 to 12 months, then sit the official certification exam for your chosen language.

- For French, that is the DELF/DALF exam.
- For German, it is the Goethe-Zertifikat.
- For Spanish, it is the DELE.
- For Portuguese, it is the CELPE-Bras.

These certificates are internationally recognized and that is what employers actually want to see.

Once you are certified, start applying. Here is where to look:

The United Nations Careers Portal (https://t.co/yhE1JecxDm) hires Translators, Interpreters, Language Editors, and Verbatim Reporters. These are mostly onsite roles in New York, Geneva, Vienna, or Nairobi. Entry-level salary starts around $60,000 to $80,000 per year.

The French, German, or Spanish Embassies in your country regularly hire Local Staff Interpreters, Cultural Program Officers, and Administrative Officers who are bilingual. These are onsite roles paying roughly $30,000 to $60,000 per year depending on country.

The European Union Careers Portal (https://t.co/nRbtXcVLUL) recruits Linguists, Translators, and Conference Interpreters. Mostly onsite in Brussels or Luxembourg. Starting salary ranges from €4,000 to €8,000 per month.

Platforms like ProZ, Upwork, and TransPerfect hire freelance Translators and Remote Interpreters. These are fully remote. Rates run between $25 and $60 per hour depending on your language pair and experience.

The African Development Bank, World Bank, and IMF also regularly post roles for Language Officers and Regional Interpreters, especially for French and Portuguese speakers across Africa.

One language. 6 to 12 months. A globally recognized certificate. That is all it takes to unlock doors that most people do not even know exist.

The information is free. The choice is yours.

Above all, love God.

A lady I know closes work by 5pm and usually gets home around 6pm.

One day, after work, she decided to get her hair done at a salon near her office and stayed there till about 7pm.

Her husband called to ask why she wasn’t home yet.
She told him she was at the salon and would be back soon.
When she got home, he didn’t speak to her.
She also refused to speak to him.

Her reason?
“It’s aura for aura. Why can’t he understand I was getting my hair done?

I asked her a simple question:
“Did you inform him ahead of time that you would be late because you wanted to do your hair?”
She said no. She was in a hurry and told him only when he called.
But why can't he understand that I was getting my hair done?

So I asked again:
“Would you communicate lateness to work, to your boss this same way?

She paused.
Then said, “Is he my boss?

I gently said to her "rebellious daughter of EVE
Please go and apologize to your husband..

She laughed...
But she finally got the point...

2. "Your mood becomes the mood of the home."

My father explained that a woman naturally tunes into the emotional state of her man. If you come home agitated, she will become anxious. If you are withdrawn, she will feel rejected. If you are at peace, she will settle into calm. Your internal state sets the temperature for everyone else.

This is not her fault. It is how women are wired. They absorb the emotional atmosphere. Your job is not to blame her for reacting to you. Your job is to manage yourself so well that your presence becomes a source of peace, not a source of stress.

My parents were married for 33 years.

Not once did I hear the word “divorce” mentioned in our home.

Not during arguments, financial pressure, or difficult seasons. Never.

Before my wedding, my father took me aside and shared a few words that have stayed with me ever since….

I remember the day I walked from Eksu campus to Iworoko with just N5 in my pocket. As I walked past the Osekita hostel to the main road, tears dropped from my eyes.

I can't call home because there is nothing back home. The last N5 can only buy either groundnuts, sugar, or sachet water so I have to prioritize what I will use it for.

When I got home, I brought out gaari, bought groundnuts, and begged for sachet water from a neighbor, then drank the gaari and I went to sleep. I can't even read so I didn't bother to open any book.

I was sleeping when my friend came in and woke me up and said their church in Akure (his mum was a church founder) wanted to translate Sunday School studies from English to Yoruba. He told his mum to wait because he knew I might be interested so he asked me first. The sleep disappeared straight away! I charged N10k to do the job and he called his mum back. She sent N5k that evening and promised to send the Sunday school studies through a driver the following day.

That gig gave me life afterwards because that N10k was like N100k.

When it seems all hope is lost, please don't give up. Help will come from where you least expect but at the same time, don't be lazy!

Help will come!

Last night, my 9-year-old granddaughter Joselyn came to me with a very serious request.

“Grandpa,” she said, holding out her doll, “can you babysit Abbie for me tomorrow?”

I played along and asked, “Who’s Abbie?” even though I already knew.

She gave me that look only a determined little girl can give. “My baby. I’m going trucking with you and Grandma tomorrow, but Abbie’s too little for the big rig. So you’ll take her instead, right?”

How could I possibly say no?

This morning, before I left, Joselyn made sure Abbie was buckled safely into the passenger seat. She even handed me a tiny bottle and a pink blanket. “Don’t forget to feed her lunch,” she reminded me, with all the seriousness of a real mom.

So off we went — Grandpa and Abbie, hitting the open road.

I didn’t want Joselyn to think I’d just tossed her doll aside, so I decided to make it fun. Every few hours, I sent her pictures of Abbie’s big adventure. Abbie “helping” check the tires, Abbie “driving” from the dashboard, Abbie “waiting patiently” at the fuel stop.

Each photo came with a caption, and Joselyn replied with detailed instructions. “Don’t let her nap too long.” “She likes country music, not the loud stuff.” “Make sure her seatbelt stays on!”

Somewhere between Kansas City and Wichita, I caught myself laughing out loud — really laughing — at how much joy this little game had brought to my day.

At one truck stop, another driver spotted me buckling Abbie back in. He grinned and said, “My granddaughter makes me do the same thing.” Then he showed me pictures of his own travel buddies — a family of teddy bears riding shotgun to Denver. We stood there for a while, two grandpas swapping stories and baby photos like proud parents.

By the time I got home, I realized something special. Joselyn hadn’t just sent me her doll. She’d sent me a reminder — that imagination still belongs in this big, serious world. That a little love and play can make even the longest road feel lighter.

When Joselyn asked that night, “Did she behave?” I smiled and said, “Best co-driver I ever had.” ❤️

[Lady B - IYALODE OF X @mobola_ade]

My name is Zainab. I’m 27 years old. An SS.

That is, I live with sickle cell disease.
My parents are both AS.

Oh, they They knew.
They were told.
They still married.

They said God approved it. They said love would be enough. They said faith would cover the consequences.

I am the consequence.

I was diagnosed before I was two. My childhood memories are not playgrounds or cartoons, they are; hospitals, needles, and adults whispering when they thought I couldn’t hear.

In primary school, I missed classes so often that teachers stopped asking why. Some classmates thought I was pretending. Some thought I was cursed. I learned early how to smile while feeling different.

By secondary school, the pain episodes became more frequent. I would wake up excited for school and end the day on a hospital bed. I watched my mates grow normally while my life moved in pauses, school, hospital, recovery, repeat.

At 15, I lost my younger brother to sickle cell.
We were both SS.

That day changed me forever.

My parents broke down in front of me — crying, apologizing, saying “We followed faith. We didn’t think…”
But the damage had already been done.

Sometimes I forgive them.
Sometimes I resent them deeply.
Both feelings live in me.

In university, I tried to be normal. I joined sickle cell advocacy groups, volunteered with awareness organizations, spoke at events, encouraged parents to test their genotype. People call me strong. They call me a warrior.

What they don’t see is me crying alone at night after another silent pain episode.
They don’t see the fear that comes with planning a future in a body that doesn’t always cooperate.

And Relationships?
That’s another wound.

I’ve been loved… briefly.
The moment conversations turn serious about marriage, children, commitment….they leave. Some are honest. Some ghost me. Some promise forever and disappear quietly.

One man once said he would do anything for me. He talked about taking me abroad, better care, a life without fear. I believed him. For the first time, my heart rested.

Then one day, he stopped calling.

That heartbreak triggered one of the worst crises I’ve had as an adult. Not because of physical stress but because hope collapsed.

Now I’m older. The pain episodes come differently. Less dramatic, but more exhausting. My body recovers slower. My fears are heavier. I ask myself questions my parents never asked each other.

I am strong, yes.
But I am tired.

If you are AS and the person you love is AS, please love your unborn children enough to stop and think. Faith is not a license to ignore knowledge. I am a proof to that

I didn’t ask to be a lesson.
But if my life can prevent another child from being born into avoidable pain, then my voice matters.

That’s why I’m writing this to you. Because people listens to you and this story needs to be heard. I hope that your audience share this till it reaches those who are about to walk by faith and not by sight, Sickle Cell is real!.

Adeyinka, keep rescuing lives, I love how you raise awareness and say the truth unapologetically, those who do not like you are probably those who wish they could be you. Have you met you?. Oh,I see you Queen Ade💪🏻
