.@JamesTalarico: I've been bucking my own party since I got elected in 2018. I have no problem sharing hard truths with my own party, and our immigration system is a prime example of government not working for people. I'm a border security Democrat. I believe we've got to have a sane, orderly process to ensure that we know who's coming into our country.
Public safety is the most important thing the government does. More important than public education, more important than public health — nothing matters if we're not keeping people safe.
Rachel Maddow mocks Trump getting booed at the Knicks game: “When they’re waving at you with just one finger it doesn’t mean the same as another kind of wave. Trump likes to claim New York loves him. New York does not. In Manhattan Donald Trump and JD Vance got 17% of the vote in 2024. Not 70%. 17%”
BREAKING: YES! New polling reveals that Democrat James Talarico has pulled ahead of MAGA freak Ken Paxton in the Texas Senate race.
Republicans are officially in full-blown panic mode...
According to a survey conducted by the Texas Pulse, 47% of respondents said that they would vote for Talarico while 44% said they'd vote for Paxton. 2% said they'd support a different candidate. Given the fact that Texas is touted as a bastion of conservative sentiment, this is a remarkable lead for Talarico.
And Paxton is a remarkably bad candidate, even by the subterranean standards of the Trump era. He was impeached by his own party for taking bribes as state attorney general. In addition to being a literal crook, he's an immoral philanderer and his wife divorced him for adultery. He previously said that the horrific Uvalde school shooting — during which 21 people died and 18 others were injured — was just "part of God's plan."
“Call me old-fashioned, but a man takes responsibility,” Talarico, taking aim at his opponent. “He upholds his commitments to his family and his neighbors, and he does what’s right even when no one is watching.”
Meanwhile, Talarico himself is a devout Christian with a sterling record of standing up for working class people as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. He represents the sane, upstanding choice compared to Paxton's blatant criminality.
It's clear that Republicans are floundering here. Lacking any legitimate avenue of attack against Talarico, they've resorted to falsely claiming that he's "transgender," insulting his masculinity, and spreading AI videos depicting him saying things that he's never said. They have nothing to run on and Texans will see right through their pathetic smear campaign.
Please ❤️ and share if you're rooting for James Talarico!
ICYMI — 🔥 Ken Paxton’s lawyer endorses @jamestalarico: “I defended Ken Paxton for years, in his impeachment trial and state criminal cases. Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.”

ABSOLUTELY. She didn't let him lie. She didn't let him bully. She stood her ground. When he couldn't take the heat and started to leave, she REFUSED to let him go without calling him out for abandoning his duty to answer to the American people.
EVERY reporter should see this, and take notes!
Trump walking out on Kristen Welker today reminded me of his 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl in 2020. Different interviewer, same result: when he can’t control the narrative, he walks out like the petulant man-child he is. Fucking snowflake.
There is something happening in Texas.
We are uniting Texans on one team to take back our state and take back our country.
We will end 30 years of one party rule in this state and elect a Senator who is going to serve the people, not billionaire mega-donors.
🚨WHAT A CONTRAST!
At the same moment Trump ran from questions on Meet the Press Hakeem Jeffries sits on FOX NEWS and holds his own the entire time:
"It's very interesting... you haven't asked me a single question about the hatred, the xenophobia, the Islamophobia, the outright racism that we see being peddled by actual members of Congress in the Republican conference.”
Then he delivered the knockout punch:
"Republicans promised to lower costs on day one. Costs haven't gone down. Costs have gone up."
🔥
Scott Pelley responds to Trump saying he doesn’t care about the country: “I’ve never worn the uniform, but I’ve been in combat for this country. In Afghanistan, and Iraq, Kuwait. Been shot at. Spent nights in foxholes filling up with water in the desert. I’m not aware that the president has ever done any of those things for his country. You become a journalist because you love the First Amendment, you love the country. While all the other descriptions the president used about me might be applicable, not that one”
BREAKING: MAGA REVOLT! Six Republican senators join with Democrats in a vote to BLOCK Trump from reviving his $1.8 billion slush fund for Jan. 6th insurrectionists.
The cult leader's grasp on his party is weakening...
While the legislation failed to reach the 60 vote threshold necessary to pass, the fact that so many Republicans defected is a very grim omen for Trump. It means that his uniform support is slipping as his popularity continues to plummet. Sometimes these votes take a few attempts to pass, with more defectors coming on board each time.
The Republicans who crossed the aisle this time were Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Dan Sullivan, Jon Husted, Thom Tillis, and Bill Cassidy. Cassidy was a sponsor of the bill.
Every Democrat voted for it. The legislation would reroute the "anti-weaponization" money to the law enforcement officers who were injured or financially damaged by the deadly Capitol attack. $100 million would be set aside for officers and surviving family members. Perhaps best of all, the money would be sourced by slashing funding to ICE.
“Even though Attorney General Blanche says that the anti-weaponization fund will not be used, it is still part of an active settlement and absolutely can be used,” stated Cassidy.
While the Trump administration has indeed abandoned their corrupt slush fund for the time being, Trump is an incredibly fickle, impulsive man. One can't rule out the possibility that he could be up late one night sprawled in bed, scrolling his phone, fighting off indigestion from a late night McDonald's meal, and suddenly decide to announce via Truth Social that the fund is back on.
“I don’t actually see any legal precedent for that. We are a nation of laws, you can’t just make up things whole-piece,” Cassidy said of aborted the slush fund. “Somebody explained it to me this way, an attorney. … It is as if somebody sued themselves and agreed upon a settlement with themselves that’s going to be funded by the rest of us. If that’s the case: What?”
We can't let up the pressure. Trump's coalition is crumbling and the more we speak out, the more radioactive he becomes.
