This video provides rare colorized combat footage and discussion of German paratroopers, or 'Green Devils' or Fallschirmjäger in combat in Normandy 1944, Battle of Crete 1941, Monte Cassino Italian campaign in WW2 and on the Eastern Front.

Units discussed include History of von Heyte's 6th Fallschirmjäger Regiment, 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division, 7th Flieger division, and 1st Fallschirmjäger Regiment. These troops also appear in the famous Band of Brothers series, in an reinactment of the Battle of Bloody Gulch & Battle of Carentan.

German Paratroops were initially elite special forces troops with the highest standard of specialized training and equipment but as the war went on, they transitioned into a 200,000 man mass conscript infantry army of varying quality due to the actions of Luftwaffe CIC Hermann Goering.

Shtrafbats (Russian: штрафбат, штрафной батальон) were Soviet penal battalions that fought on the Eastern Front in World War II. The shtrafbats were greatly increased in number by Joseph Stalin in July 1942 via Order No. 227 (Директива Ставки ВГК № 227). Order No. 227 was a desperate effort to re-instill discipline after the panicked routs of the first year of combat with Germany.

The order—popularized as the "Not one step back!" (Ни шагу назад!, Ni shagu nazad!) Order—introduced severe punishments, including summary execution, for unauthorized retreats.

Pursuant to Order No. 227, the first penal battalions were originally authorized a strength of 800 men; penal companies were also authorized, consisting of between 150 and 200 men per company. In addition to the battalions already serving with Armies, other battalions, subordinated to Fronts (the equivalent of Army Groups), were introduced.

Massive changes to "EPIC FACTS REVIEW" Youtube channel NOW!

For the longest time, I've posted at least 3 shorts a day on this channel and aimed for a weekly upload of a long form video, which was the source file for all the shorts.

Due to a dramatic algorithm change last week, creators can only post 1 short every 24 hr period.

**MY NEW Upload schedule is 3 LONG FORM VIDEOS a week (Mon-Wed-Sat)

**Mon & Wed at 5pm, Sat after 1 PM

**1 Short every day after 5 pm. If I can't make it due to time constraints, expect to see at least a long form video on Sat, or 2 (Wed-Sat)

A report on the first week of the D-Day invasion and Battle of Normandy was presented from General Heinz Guderian, Inspector General of the Panzer Troops to the Supreme Commander. This video presents a translation and breakdown of this insightful and important report on the insurmountable problems facing Rommel, the German Wehrmacht, Tanks, and the Panzer Divisions against the Normandy Landings in World War 2. Soon afterwards, the armored battle degenerated into positional warfare in the Battles for Caen.
