Advocating for bright women seeking STEM & Business careers by connecting them with the right campus, philanthropic funding & resume building opportunities.
Ending Tenure means late hours writing grants to support graduate & undergrad research is not worth their time. Faculty will stick to business hours. Quality faculty will drain off to better paying industry jobs or better hours & campuses with tenure. 😢 https://t.co/yrHebyMFIq
Parents of HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL students MUST read this article if you want to avoid paying more than you need to for college👍🏽 https://t.co/laOUTd6Vij
Before you panic at 2023 acceptance rates understand the impact of test optional & the rising number of completely unqualified students applying. We have seen NO surprises or changes in acceptance of strong applicants who Apply to the right fit campuses https://t.co/8YrEsY13a3
We are weeks away from Decision Day - Please don’t ask a student or their family “Where is he/she/they going to college next year?” Ask “ Where have they DECIDED to go next year?” It’s a kinder question & students/families have a LOT of reasons involved in the Final Decision👍🏽
The end of SAT Subject testing & rise in test optional makes it unlikely that students in rural high schools can shine & draw the attention of a campus that meets 100% of Financial need. How Rural America Steals Girls’ Futures @TheAtlEducation https://t.co/zVFE3ixhF6
Let’s divide the Education & Income gap further by deluding students choosing 3yr Bachelors degrees or any substandard program that they are equal to a rigorous campus 4yr degree where students have stronger resume material at graduation & opportunities https://t.co/bLQUh05vMY
Is US Gun Violence dissuading international students? The US has the 2nd highest rate of gun violence & 2nd highest rate of young Gun related suicide per capita. https://t.co/4PKbu8bfUq
Univ of Colorado Boulder ends partnership with PointsBet, who encouraged sports betting on campus. A $30 referral bonus to campus for every PointsBet signup with CU’s promo code & placed a bet. CU Boulder discontinues controversial sports betting incentive https://t.co/hBoeW2AQs5
Are YOU a smart driven young woman? Apply to 1+ women’s college. These are NOT nunneries. They socialize with nearby campuses, share co-enrollment for classes & research opportunities, & MORE. BUT on a woman’s campus you will have life long mentors & change the world #Wellesley
A HUGE campus doesn’t mean YOU will have a lot of friends & have a big social life or network of friends. We know the strongest alumni networks are at campuses with less than 10,000 students & have 4 years of residence life on campus. Living, dining, & socializing together works!
Visiting Campus? Have Lunch in a Dining Hall. Any students sitting alone? Faculty? Is there a free lunch for faculty dining with student program? Are tables busy or empty? The real sign of social life on campus is the life & interaction in dining halls👍🏼 @Muhlenberg College
Visiting Campus? Don’t forget to visit the Career Center. Ask about career services, internship stipends, companies recruiting your major and individual assistance for jobs & grad school. Are they welcoming & informative? If not, it will much worse once you are on campus.
As you make Campus visits don’t forget to explore without a guide. Are new buildings full of auditorium size rooms or seminar tables? Are there classrooms that hold more than 40 students? Are faculty offices visible and are faculty walking with undergrads? Study space on campus?
WOW! You thought classes were big at University of Colorado - Boulder & student services were spread thin? Wait until they add more students onto the campus. Decision Day is less than a month away. A ‘Faustian Bargain’ to Attract Out-of-State Students https://t.co/ssOymIWIi2
Parents - Torturing a student by visiting a highly selective campus where the average admitted student has 2+ years of Math or a Foreign language more & nationally recognized awards - won’t make them more likely to “try harder” or be admitted. It’s just torture😫
Juniors - Try to visit campuses over spring break. Even if it’s only to visit a few nearby colleges where you have the academic fit (with a friend or parent) to learn what you do & don’t want in a college👍🏼
NOW is the time for
#Juniors to begin building a #College List- Concentrate on campuses you know you are a strong candidate & safety schools for now - You can add your “Reach” schools later. The biggest mistake students make is applying to campuses they don’t❤️ or don’t “fit”
Why a Private high school means a better chance of admission to a UC Campus. University of California admissions data shows how many students from every state high school are accepted and enrolled at UCLA, Berkeley and other campuses. https://t.co/Zc5lF2Jqyy @GavinNewsom#Equity
Ask How campus responds to bigotry BEFORE you enroll. In 2018 I visited a small campus where 2 AfricAmerican students shared they had been threatened- Campus official told me no action would be taken🤬Report: Antisemitic Incidents on Campuses Increased 41% https://t.co/8CfEa64Ov2
