Africa must be in the room where tomorrow’s economic architecture is designed; not waiting outside to inherit it.
Our partnerships must move beyond aid and extraction towards investment, value addition and shared prosperity.
Healthcare shows why. COVID-19 exposed the cost of dependence. Africa must train its own specialists, manufacture medicines and vaccines, and build resilient supply chains. In Kenya, we are expanding health coverage, strengthening primary healthcare and investing in modern health infrastructure and technology.
At the ECAM Council Summit on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, we made our position clear that Kenya is open for investment that creates jobs, transfers technology, builds skills and strengthens African institutions.
@Lawton_Times I hear doping was not a factor. They simply realised Brits come to Kenya to train, then Kenyans go to London to beat them. So they decided to bring the training and the beating under one roof. Nairobi 2029. 😂🏃🏿♂️🇰🇪
@CS_MoALD This is a major step in empowering livestock farmers and ensuring production of high quality breeds that have been underutilized in kenya for a long time.
Kenya's ambition to become a leading global meat export hub will not be achieved in boardrooms or processing plants alone, it begins with the farmer. Without our livestock farmers and pastoralists, there is no meat industry, no value chain, and no export market.
Today, the livestock sector stands among Kenya's most promising economic frontiers, earning the country billions of shillings annually, supporting millions of livelihoods, and strengthening our food security. The growing demand for Kenyan meat in international markets is proof that our sector has the potential to compete with the best in the world.
Our focus is therefore clear: empower the farmer, strengthen animal identification and traceability, improve animal health, expand value addition, and unlock new export markets. When farmers prosper, the entire value chain grows, and Kenya earns more from its livestock resources.
The future of this sector lies not in exporting potential, but in exporting premium Kenyan meat to the world. Kenya has the livestock, the markets, and the capacity. What remains is to fully unlock the value of the sector and firmly position our country as Africa's leading and most trusted source of quality meat exports.
Signed into law the Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, 2026, establishing a national investment vehicle aimed at preserving wealth generated from Kenya's natural resources and strategic investments for future generations.
The new law is a historic milestone that will ensure the country's prosperity endures beyond the current generation.
With this consequential law, Kenya has put in place watertight mechanisms that will ensure the resources attained from strategic assets and natural resources endure for generations.
The Sovereign Wealth Fund serves as a guarantee that revenues from petroleum and other valuable mineral resources are not entirely consumed by the present generation but are invested to benefit our children and the children of our children.
The legislation establishes three key windows under the fund: The Stabilisation Fund will cushion the economy against external shocks, the Strategic Investment Window will finance national development projects and create jobs, while the Future Generations pillar - Urithi Fund - will invest a portion of petroleum and mineral revenues for future citizens.
Under the law, 30 per cent of revenues from petroleum and mineral resources will be channelled into the Urithi Fund, with the remainder supporting economic stability and strategic investments.
The Sovereign Wealth Fund becomes the second major financial institution created under the Government's economic transformation agenda after the establishment of the National Infrastructure Fund in March 2026. This fund is designed to mobilise private capital for development projects.
