The inaugural five-day capacity-building workshop for 146 civilian staff drawn from across the National Police Service (NPS) concluded yesterday, July 10, 2026, at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) – Ngong'.

Mr. Peter Sichangi, Director of Administration – NPS, presided over the closing ceremony. In his address, he thanked the Inspector General of the NPS, Mr. Douglas Kanja, for championing the workshop.

He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge acquired in their respective stations to enhance workplace performance, embrace innovation, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, and continuously seek opportunities to improve systems and processes within their areas of responsibility.

Mr. Sichangi further urged them to remain ambassadors of the NPS values, reminding them that their conduct, commitment, and work ethic are integral to the efficiency of the Service.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the Commandant of NPLA, Mr. David Kainga, AIG, the Deputy Commandant of NPLA, Dr. David Muthondeki, CP, commended the participants for the discipline and cooperation demonstrated throughout the workshop.

He emphasized that the programme was specifically designed to deepen their understanding of the policing subculture and to enable them to deliver services more effectively and efficiently.

The Assistant Director of Human Capital Management, Mr. Philip Rono, who also served as the workshop coordinator, expressed appreciation to the NPS leadership for organizing the initiative. He noted that the non-uniformed staff are now returning to their duty stations well-equipped, rejuvenated, and committed to enhanced service delivery.

Key topics covered during the workshop included the structure of the NPS, its mandate, chain of command and communication, customer care, and other relevant areas. The programme concluded with a team-building session.

Also in attendance were Mr. Julius Olayo, NPS Director of Human Capital Management; Mr. Peter More, NPS Deputy Director of Human Capital Management; senior officers from the NPS; and facilitators.
