@neilworms@ie7kE1Uw4g9ksa0 And none of them wrote anything beyond LJ-fanfics if at all. I am not the best writer, but at least I tried making comics, and I can better see where the artists' intentions are coming from based on experience compared to an outsider.
@neilworms@ie7kE1Uw4g9ksa0 Literal localisation based mostly on the character's expression in a frame is sadly the "gold standard" now, and it made even worse when things get censored/left out due to "cultural differences". I really wish this wasn't the case but it is, and the "LLM"-translators amplify it.
@neilworms@ie7kE1Uw4g9ksa0 There is an immense level of subtlety and nuance in the originals that hamfisted localisers butcher to fit their own one-dimensional worldly outlook. This is also now the going standard and people are weirded out when tropes are not present.
@joseph_h_garvin lol, just another symptom of reaching equilibrium with the inherent noise. Also funny but at a tech gathering I attended yesterday a lot of people were mentioning similar issues. It's just physics.
Thanks to the supreme instability of the Norwegian train system I missed my appointment and wasted a few hours being stuck on the train...
Now I am stuck awaiting the return train. ;_;
@Colonthreee@0xglitchbyte I don't know if I would truly call it a "red herring". The present state of LLM's are pretty useful for specific tasks, but they fundamentally are not capable of the compute required for systems approaching AGI level.
I don't like it when people conflate LLMs with AGI.
