@martynziegler Y’all know it was an illegitimate red card, right? VAR can’t show slow or still images on a 50/50 ball. So, the corrupt VAR is the one who deserves scrutiny here. Why were they breaking protocol to punish Balo?
The Commish was correcting the mistake of the VAR. Nothing else.
@zacharymtravis@MikeyC6464@MatthewFairburn Offense requires forecheck and backcheck AND shooters. Every line needs a shooter. Ostlund will get his PP1/2 time.
Did you see Tage’s stats during the ten game streak?
@MikeyC6464@MatthewFairburn Ten game win streak started when Krebs went to line one.
4th line center needs to be able to score. Greenway and Malenstyn will set Ostlund up in spots where Krebs won’t finish.
@DaleJohnsonESPN Had the contact been with anything other than the bottom of the boot/cleat then your “unwritten rule” argument has merit. Another “unwritten rule”, a foul with the bottom of the boot/cleat is always reckless and sometimes excessive trumps in this scenario.
@Kasparov63 The rule isn’t about “penalty” but direct free kick. The tackle/challenge was careless, slightly reckless and ended with the defender kicking Kane in the penalty area.
@Kasparov63 It’s not in the rules, but many referees believe any contact with the bottom of the boot/cleat is reckless. You can’t use the hard part of the shoe to foul a player and expect anything other than yellow and red.

Here is my take on how the blame falls on Berhalter for the COPA failures of @USMNT
1. Bolivia - a 2-0 win put the team at risk. Why only two goals? Why didn’t Pepe finish his chances? The competition at striker was likely mismanaged. Was Pepe unlucky? Squeezing?

3. Uruguay - the team was outclassed, especially the midfield. The Champions League talent was disconnected. Why? Manager not setting expectations? Practicing properly?

2. Panama - they weren’t prepared emotionally. The defensive substitutes at half time were horrible tactics. The team had less than 30% possession! An overconfident left back that turned the ball over on the game winning goal. Why was a dominant player overconfident?
@herculezg But, as a referee I see the handball as a denial of goal scoring opportunity and the “justified” part of the rule is ignored. It should be PK.
@herculezg Body was made unnaturally bigger by using his arm as a counter balance to decelerate.
The referee must have felt the arm position was justified.
