@JoeAlderman11@RoxUniverse Hi Joe, most Patagonian toothfish mature between 6 and 12 years old. Over half the global catch is independently certified as sustainable and well managed by the MSC. 👍
@MichaelFieldNZ@MarineTraffic Just FYI, only 3 of the 19 vessels you have named are actually fishing the Ross Sea. All of which are licensed by their flag state in accordance with CCAMLR Conservation Measures. Many of them have never fished the Ross Sea, so I am not sure where you are getting your info from
@CaptainSloose@kenwheeler Toothfish is not overfished. Not going to go extinct. Fisheries are managed by various domestic states as well as CCAMLR. Check @MSCecolabel for the 7 different Toothfish fisheries that are certified as sustainable and well managed
📢Marine Ecologist: to contribute to a two-year Darwin Plus funded project: Evaluating climate change risks to Patagonian and Antarctic toothfish. Apply by 28 March 2023🐟

In a new special issue of the journal Deep Sea Research, @CefasGovUK scientists and @BAS_News have detailed the ecology and life-history traits of these understudied species⬇️
