@Nati_Sports And if we really think the league is that naive to not pick up on a baseball manager gambling on baseball on his own device that’s so dumb lol. Professional sports, the gov’t, and sportsbooks have all been monitoring that pretty closely lately.
@Nati_Sports I could literally give 2 shits what he does for entertainment or money. If it’s not on baseball who cares? I think we all just want the reds to win baseball games. Caring what he does on his own time - if it doesn’t interfere with that is just weird.
@nickysmokess Idk, if you’re posting a “come play 3 holes with me” video and don’t include your duffed tee shot then that comes off as a little dbag-ish. Only because you’re documenting it and posting it tho.
@StephTuittRules@LouStagner I think it only serves a purpose in a money match. Better golfer is laying points in a sense. But like you said, there’s no satisfaction as the worse golfer getting 10 strokes and beating them lol. Strictly a money tool
@tc696@bryce_spalding Serviceable on a team that has very few other impact players is the problem tho. It’s not the dodgers replacing one of their stars. This team could really struggle with another serviceable guy in the lineup. Hopefully some others can carry the weight and it’s minor
@JayRBP@skraxxy Teams like the dodgers or Yankees would be able to overcome that mistake just by replacing said player with another expensive option. With a cap however, that eliminates the ability to just fix mistakes by throwing more money at someone else.
@JayRBP@skraxxy Another important aspect to the level playing field. Yes small market teams can spend more, but when they sign “bad contracts” (moose and candy), it handicaps them so much financially because they can’t overcome it as easily.
@JayRBP@skraxxy The comparison to the nfl people keep bringing up is getting old. No other sport has a player as important as the qb position in the nfl. Oh it got less parity post salary cap? You mean when passing the ball really started to take off, making that 1 position even more important?
@n_nutzilla@KeithandMovies@BNightengale Exactly. I just don’t think you’ll have teams that are constantly rebuilding in this scenario. They can ACTUALLY sign homegrown talent which can extend playoff/championship windows of smaller markets if they hit a few drafts in a row. Not just 1-3 year playoff stints
@KeithandMovies@BNightengale Probably short term deals. The only way a cap will work is with a floor. There has to be one. Sucks to be “rebuilding” and be forced to spend, but I believe with less pay disparity across the board, you wouldn’t see many full rebuilds. Teams could resign homegrown talent easier
@StatsOnFire@JohnKincade And I’m not saying you’re wrong for saying they shouldn’t have a cap. There’s arguments for and against it. But to just blanket it as you wouldn’t want it at your job and that it’s unfair is absurd
@StatsOnFire@JohnKincade There are plenty of things I don’t want for myself, that other occupations have. I don’t want to spend nights away from my family, truck drivers do that weekly. You can’t compare everything like it’s the same thing.
@StatsOnFire@JohnKincade lol comparing someone who works at a factory, grocery store, public services, etc. to a professional athlete is hilarious. That’s a horrible comparison. Those are not entertainment industry occupations driven by fans.
@907username@JeffPassan Pretty sure the umpires have their own union. So find it hard to understand how the players and mlb can decide on that without the umpires union involved lol
@c_golden07@vmaughan3 I dont think there’s necessarily a downside, but I also don’t agree that a few inches changes a bang bang play at this level decided by inches. Umpiring at that stage isn’t that precise lol
