@jenni_gritters I needed to ride my bicycle across the city from 7am-3pm and walk dogs for half a year, while working on my short stories and poetry in the afternoons before I was ready to open myself back up to the stable handcuffs of traditional employment.
@jenni_gritters I knew right then I needed to quit. I gave 30 days notice and didn’t even have time or emotional energy to apply for other jobs. My last week my boss asks what I’m gonna do next and I said “I have no idea maybe walk dogs?” So that’s what I did.
Ok, can we clear this up? The idea that money sullies creative work is JUST NOT TRUE. The creatives I work with can do *much* better work when they have a stable financial picture. It's amazing to watch how creativity blossoms when our financial anxiety is turned down.
@Ticketmaster wtf you got me to sign up for presale Tyler childers tickets to the show sep 10 in Philly, bc i am a purchaser of tickets to his show tonight….I waited in queue…WHAT PASSCODE?! I never received a passcode!! Wtf SERIOUSLY NOT COOL
@StreetsDept Wait which one is it supposed to be? I say CC Blvd if south of ~nolibs, and Delaware Ave fishtown and further north. I realize CC is canceled so is it all Delaware Ave? Sorry only been here 10 years…
@TadCarpenter It’s cute that you get to count on social security. Salty parentless millenial here, just not my reality to expect anything’s gonna be there for me when I try to “retire.”
Since Rhode Island officials felt entitled to just about everything in Philly, I’m formally lodging this list of rude and absurd demands for Rhode Island officials on behalf of Philadelphians. You have three hours to fulfill all requirements.

@marissaluck7@elizTrovall I left Houston 10 years ago and I still know all the freeways, where they run, intersect, and what they’re called. Now I live in Philly and we have an I-76, 676 and 476. You’ve no idea how much I miss the freeway names in Houston.
@elizTrovall@lomikriel Aww I was a willow pool kid in the 90’s and early aughts. I don’t live in TX anymore but some of my best childhood memories were made there. It’s wild to me though, living in philadelphia, we have dozens of free city pools—houston doesnt have that.
I’ve been told despite having the department manager title, and this other person having the corresponding title for someone who is under the manager in that department, I wouldn’t be his active supervisor bc he doesn’t like to be micromanaged. But this is getting out of hand.
How does one address issues of poor performance and half-assedness that are creating downstream issues for other departments and customers, when you have a subordinate who will not be managed?
All I’ve got so far is “reply all to emails about resulting issues and don’t name names but dance around the issue that 1 person on the team is regularly creating these issues and someone should do something, here are 3 more instances this happened.”
