@RealiaAmelia “Best movie of the year” when OBAA, Blue Moon, and No Other Choice exist. TSAgent was a dull anticlimactic “drama” that begged to be interpreted and dissected.
@dimension__tide Minority Report, CMIYC, Lincoln, Munich, Fabelmans, West Side Story, Tintin, War of the Worlds, even the fucking Terminal. Say this shit one more time.
@UnderstanderArt I think Oppenheimer absolutely should have been criticised more for its cinematography. As should Sinners. The fact that both of these movies won awards for their cinematography is something I don't think will age well in the future.
This whole aspect ratio discussion just reveals how the Nolan team can’t conceive of the movie screen as a canvas which can achieve excellence of composition, but as a replaceable conduit for simple individual moments, one at a time.
Friendly reminder that Rotten Tomatoes isn't a "This film is 90%, so it's 9/10". A 90% rating just means that 90% of critics gave it a generally favourable review. A film could be rated 100%, but every critic only rated it 6/10.
