@ChrisAnadale People forget about the economic boom building great churches and crafting things like this create, as well as maintenance. Think of the craftsmanship and maintenance it promoted. And the Church always believed in paying living wages. Teach a man to fish, etc.
@SchrockNat79945@Xtopher_Uzo But when your whole country is under attack it’s justified to fight. Fighting is also a huge risk of shedding blood. Plus there were plenty of non combatants who were killed
@Xtopher_Uzo People forget it wasn’t just the formal crusades. It was the countless battles by land and sea in Europe itself defending against Muslim invaders from the Moors in Spain to the Turks, who threatened to penetrate Central Europe. All my Balkan brothers understand
@OrthodoxPole81 I’m happy to hear that for the sake of your souls. I am an interesting case because I’m half Russian and Catholic, so I see both sides, and sadly it’s not looking good among either most cultural Catholics or Orthodox on this matter
@WhtvrMakesSense@DF_UniatePapist@CraigOnan It’s still good to confess any sin because genial sin by the name means “wound.” If you’re too wounded spiritually you will fall from grace eventually and commit a mortal sin. Confession strengthens us
Catholics have basically three options:
1. Sedevacantism - just deny he’s even the Pope so you can reject everything he says
2. Popesplaining - desperately twist and contort the Pope’s many statements to make them conform with a “mere orthodoxy” of Catholicism
3. Serenity - you don’t have to stay up to date with every happening in the Vatican. You don’t have to deal with every papal interview. You can just get on with your life as a Catholic in your parish, praying for the Pope, obeying the bishop he appoints over you, and engaging with his serious magisterial teachings.
@DF_UniatePapist People forget that the Pope also has a political role to play. And he’s probably facing TREMENDOUS pressure from governments and his initial backers in ways we can only imagine. Pray for him.
