Talk by Dr Stephen Harrison on Arklow and the Cistercians- A Medieval Borough and Manor Reconsidered. Thursday 4th April at 8pm Arklow Maritime Museum. #CMF
@JimRyanWW Lovely thread Jim! Those lovely crosses probably fine by a local blacksmith. The cross is early medieval and was modified at a later date. Just checked Nms website and it says it was possibly unfinished too back in the day. Dermot is buried in a lovely spot.
Kilcommon Church is an early medieval ecclesiastical site located in County Wicklow. originally known as Cill Chomáin or the church of St Comáin. This illustration depicting the saint’s feast on 25th December was produced as part of Historical graveyards project in Co. Wicklow
Leaving the best till last right? 😆😅 I am really looking forward to these great talks and to sharing some lovely photos and 3D models of my lovely Glendalough cottage #heritage
Wouldn't it be great to twin schools with monuments? Matching experts with the next generations to be caretakers of our heritage. Any class I've ever brought to St. Canice's Graveyard in Finglas has been blown away by it. I'm hoping the same for Old Kilpipe in the future.
Nice piece on the @TIINews-funded archaeological excavations by teams from @rubiconheritage and @tvasireland on the @Corkcoco M28 Cork-Ringaskiddy project

Congratulations to the team from @archerheritage who wrote a report on @TIINews-funded excavations of a multiperiod site at the marvellously named Dragoonhill along the N81 in #Wicklow just published in @Archaeology_Irl
