Kevin Costner says he left Yellowstone because he couldn’t put the rest of his career on hold waiting for the show’s schedule.

“When Yellowstone came to me, it wasn’t on anybody’s radar.”

Kevin Costner revealed he invested most of his own money into Horizon: An American Saga.

Kevin Costner: Well, not all mine, but the majority of it is mine and I, I keep, um... You know, I don't, uh, fall out of love that easy when I, when I just like something. It's just, I really believe in the movie experience. I feel like there's a movie that I would want to see. I don't feel any different than you. There's this, this, this thing that happens in the theater when the lights go out, and they come on, you always think, when you have a... Well, they don't have a curtain anymore, but I, I remember when the curtain just used to open. I miss it.

You always thought, "Wow, something magic could happen." And that's how I feel about movies, and that's how I feel about Horizon. It's a, it's a movie I made for myself, and knowing that it would, uh, come to these theaters, it wouldn't be my movie anymore, it would be yours.

My dream was always to show @Horizonsaga Chapter 2 at the Venice Film Festival. The fact that now they have decided to show Chapter 1 earlier in the day and then the World Premiere of Chapter 2 that evening shows not only their belief in how the two films work together but their support of a director’s vision.

I’m indebted to Alberto Barbera for his courage and leadership in committing to this cinematic journey. It is with gratitude and excitement that I return to the Venice Film Festival.  

Long live the movies and those willing to stand for them.
