eh, thats misleading.
This building, which i assume pays no taxes, is making 1 bedrooms cost $1545 next year and 5 percent increases the following two years.
As you know, many Rent Stab apt are well below that number and their rents will probably be frozen much of the next 8 years.
@emmagf Isnt this acknowledging that it will spell doom for at least some landlords?
Also, does the city have exceptions to the RGB for when it does spell doom? Or do they just try to take it over like they did in the Pinnacle case?
@SquarePegDem@NYCHousing isnt this their plan for all the buildings they eventually take over? once its in their possession, why would they keep rents artificially low?
@TheLibertyPear@robataol nope. landlord, like a hotel manager or a owner of an air b&b exchanges their labor of maintaining the property for profit.
you want the LLs labor, the super's labor, and anyone who works on the building, including utilities like water, gas and electric to be free = slave owner
@TheLibertyPear@robataol no again, you literally want the free ride.
You want all the people who put work into maintaining the building to work for you, for free = theyre youre slaves.
@TheLibertyPear@robataol@jaymart222 but you want it for free. so you dont want to provide any labor. you want them as your slaves.
Capitalism works by exchanging the profits of each others labor.
But you want to extort their labor while not providing any of your own, which is what slave owners do.
@TheLibertyPear@robataol@jaymart222 nope. LLs have to maintain a building. That requires work. Like maintaining and air b&b or hotel or anything really. What you want is the LL's labor & super's labor & anyone who works on the building to be free, making them your slaves
@TheLibertyPear@robataol@jaymart222 entitlements are just the new way of being a slave owner: you demand others work for you and they get paid by taking the money from other hard workers. you get to benefit from two sets of peoples labor while having to do nothing
@TheLibertyPear@robataol@jaymart222 it costs too much for the city to make and to maintain. this city would go bankrupt if it made 10x what it has. They literally cannot afford to maintain what they have now, let alone make and maintain more
@DavidFBrand Thatโs interesting. The costs for the LL clearly went up by more than 0 percent.
How does that range comply with their duty to increase rents to match increasing costs?
@DKThomp I wonder if this is an underlying part of why people arent in committed relationships: going to nightclubs use to be expensive/tiring with painful hangovers, so people were excited to exit that lifestyle.
Now you get to meet someone while running = less of a need to settle down
@KennyBurgosNY@danielgolliher And yet, this is still just the beginning. Weโre only 7 years since the start of HTSPA. In another 10 years, as people keeping dying/giving up these apts, the rents will be even more applauding because rgb doesnโt keep up with inflation
@KennyBurgosNY A lot of people in the comments saying how โlandlord collected rent since 1985 but didnโt do any improvementsโ but do they realize this building could have changed owners multiple times and the current owner may not have received any profit from this apt since taking over?
