The National Security Council (NSC) convened on 18 June 2026 under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye.
During the meeting;
1. The Council has been briefed on the activities that have been carried out with determination, resolve, and success at home and abroad against all types of threats and dangers to our national unity and solidarity, as well as our survival, including the terrorist organisations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH, along with recent international developments.
2. The efforts aimed at achieving the objectives of a Terror-Free Türkiye and a Terror-Free Region, which are of critical importance for the future of our country and region, were reviewed; and the strong will to relieve our nation and neighbouring countries of the heavy burden imposed by terrorism was reaffirmed.
3. Operations undertaken within the scope of the fight against organised crime were discussed, and it was emphasised that the steps taken to ensure the utmost protection of the peace and security of all citizens, particularly children and youth, will continue with determination.
4. Emphasising that, in its capacity as a guarantor state, Türkiye remains both determined and fully capable of taking all necessary measures within the framework of international law to safeguard the security, well-being and prosperity of the Turkish Cypriots, it was noted that no fait accompli that could undermine the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) or jeopardise the climate of peace in the Eastern Mediterranean would be permitted.
5. Satisfaction was expressed with the agreement reached between Iran and the United States; the importance of ensuring that the process is not derailed was underscored; and it was noted that Türkiye will continue to make active contributions to efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
6. Welcoming the progress achieved in establishing peace, stability and security in Syria, it was underscored that Türkiye will continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, as well as its development and reconstruction.
7. It was noted that the Israeli administration's continued acts of aggression—which include ceasefire violations in Gaza, acts of settler terrorism in the West Bank, attacks against the status of East Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and infringements upon Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity—are adversely affecting efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.
The international community was called upon to adopt a principled stance in the face of the Israeli administration’s persistent disregard for universal humanitarian values and international law.
8. Türkiye's strong determination to continue the strategic cooperation established with Iraq in all fields under the new Iraqi Government was reaffirmed, and support for the preservation of stability and security in Iraq was emphasised.
9. The latest developments in the Russia–Ukraine War were discussed, and a call was made on the parties responsible for the escalation of the conflict and its spillover into neighbouring regions, particularly the Black Sea region, to take immediate steps toward a just and lasting peace.
10. Developments across the African continent were reviewed, and it was noted that Türkiye will continue to support the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of friendly and brotherly African countries, as well as efforts to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the continent.
11. Recent developments towards strengthening peace, stability, and cooperation in the South Caucasus were discussed.
Respectfully submitted to the public.
Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran:
“Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore will pay a working visit to Türkiye on 19 June 2026.
During the meetings, Türkiye-Singapore relations will be reviewed in all their aspects, with a particular focus on trade and investment, and steps to further enhance cooperation between the two countries will be discussed.
An exchange of views on regional and global developments will also take place.”
Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran:
"We strongly reject the European Parliament’s report, which was prepared on the basis of ideological approaches and distorted information and fails to reflect the realities of Türkiye.
The unfounded and inequitable assessments regarding the Blue Homeland doctrine, the support extended to Greece’s maximalist claims, and the partisan stance adopted on the Cyprus issue clearly demonstrate the extent to which the report is biased. It is evident that this approach, which provides space for the narratives of terrorist organisations and anti-Türkiye circles, serves division rather than constructive dialogue.
We do not accept the unfounded allegations directed at the independent Turkish judiciary, nor the politically motivated assessments targeting our Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek. The Republic of Türkiye conducts its judicial processes through its own institutions in full accordance with the principles of the rule of law.
Those circles that are expected to contribute to the advancement of Türkiye–EU relations on the basis of mutual interests would be well advised to adopt a constructive approach grounded in facts rather than prejudice, and in fairness rather than political motives."

President Erdoğan:
“NATO has strengthened its presence by adapting to changing conditions and asymmetric threats such as terrorism.
As Türkiye, we will continue to play a leading role with our comprehensive military capabilities…
Our highly dynamic defence industry…
Our strategically significant geography…
And our historical and cultural depth.
We see that both Türkiye’s position within the Alliance and the developments unfolding in our region have increased interest in and expectations for the Ankara Summit.
Mindful of these expectations, we are continuing our efforts to ensure that the Summit serves as a milestone that will help shape the future of NATO’s security architecture.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting:
“The plans to pit brother against brother have failed to achieve their objective. Attempts to ignite new flames of discord among Turks, Arabs, Kurds, and Persians have ended in failure.
Of course, we will never forget the horrific destruction in our region, the tragedy of innocent children massacred as they sat at their school desks, and the blatant violation of international law.
But we believe that this senseless war, which has claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, including innocent children, has now come to an end.
We are greatly pleased, on behalf of our region and all humanity, with the agreement reached, to which we have also contributed.”
