Gateway Medical Centre Set for Completion Through PPP in Ogun

The Gateway Medical Center of Excellence in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta is nearing completion following the Ogun State Government’s intervention to revive the once-abandoned project through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

Initially conceived as a world-class specialist healthcare facility, the project was found to be largely uncompleted and moribund at the start of the current administration. In response, the government undertook a strategic review and subsequently appointed Viewpoint Health Management Services—comprising Healthshare Management Services (SA) Ltd. and Afrilife Nigeria Ltd.—to complete and equip the hospital to global standards, with funding support from Afreximbank.

The Office of Public Private Partnerships, in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance, Health, and Works & Infrastructure, facilitated the process leading to the successful handover of the project to the private sector partner.

Upon completion, the facility is expected to function as a Centre of Medical Excellence and serve as a major referral hub within a wider healthcare network linked to the Abuja Medical Centre of Excellence, in partnership with King’s College Hospital London. The development highlights the state government’s commitment to leveraging PPP models to deliver critical healthcare infrastructure.

Yesterday, we convened the inaugural meeting of the Venue Committee for the 2026 National Convention of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg), where we engaged extensively with members of the committee on the responsibilities before us and the importance of delivering a convention that reflects the strength, organisation, and unity of our party.

During the meeting, we reviewed the operational structure, work plan, and timeline that will guide the committee’s activities in the weeks ahead. We also discussed the various roles assigned to members to ensure that every aspect of the convention preparation is handled with diligence and professionalism. The contributions of members further enriched our discussions as we collectively aligned on the tasks required to deliver a seamless and successful national convention.

In line with our Terms of Reference, the committee is mandated to prepare the convention venue and ensure its readiness for all convention activities. This includes overseeing the layout of the venue, branding, staging, seating arrangements, utilities, accessibility, and other critical logistics necessary for the smooth conduct of the convention.

Following the meeting, we proceeded to inspect the convention venue at the Eagles Square in Abuja, where we assessed the facilities and reviewed the arrangements that will be required to transform the venue into a fitting location for such an important national gathering of our party.

We remain committed to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the 2026 APC National Convention is organised to the highest standards, reflecting the discipline, unity, and progressive ideals that define our party.
