The real problem is that the ROC doesn't have true sovereignty. I think its been like this since at least the 1990s if not earlier.

@SPRequiem1 @LumenArchivum @jasonlee_taipei It is most definitely true. The DPP is primarily the USA's proxy party but the KMT is also partially controlled/influenced.

There is no shame in saying the KMT cannot fight both the USA and CCP. In my eyes, the KMT and ROC just needs to survive until geopolitical winds shift.

It is quite obvious the PRC can get rich without directly controlling Taiwan so they would rather settle with removing a historical challenge to their legitimacy.
