@Itmechr3 The most surprising thing is COD actually cracked the code on this with the Gunfight mode, where pubstomping is boring but high level, close matches are amazing to watch. Yet they don’t seem to have any interest in iterating on it.

@jpofferz_ttv The other key part of this cycle is that you always have a new generation who has nostalgia for the games that were current when they were 12. So they keep moving the date when “something changed” up to help keep their target audience from putting any actual thought into it.

@IgneousSigil Oh for sure. There’s a worse one I haven’t mentioned - Minecraft. Yes really, and also it’s probably a mid seed because it’s a very small contingent but it’s more annoying than usual when it comes up.

@IgneousSigil There’s also some spots for things like That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime where the main character is championed as the strongest across all fiction even though power scaling isn’t really a thing inside the work itself.
