Quick update on Pink Eyed Pedro, thanks for everyone’s messages, he’ll now have the great retirement he deserves.
He’s been a superstar and given us some of the best days we’ve had in racing, memories that will last a lifetime.

“At first, there was a discussion to not run the race, but I think races like this are vital to the preparation, and we’ve just proved that.

“I was exceptionally keen to get the race on, and I think we’ve dealt with it the best we can.

“When I went down, the ground staff had done a brilliant job of moving the rail to protect the hole, but we felt it could probably come three yards further out and still have a clear line o sight at the last.

“Obviously, the fading light was becoming an issue, but no one has fallen, everyone’s home, it’s a good result.

“I wanted the race on, it was too dark for the photo finish on the camera, and I thought we were beat a head. I couldn’t believe it was taking so long for it to be announced, but I think it was clear that Brendan had won, and that’s grand.”
