@Tod3sco You should remember, then vote NDP. The only party talking about massive reductions in gov't support for colleges, which triggered the colleges' $250K-a-year educrats' efforts to stiff YOUR teachers. Try to remember: Your education is only as good as the people teaching you.
@657Faculty "No option" after sitting on her hands for five weeks and saying NOTHING about her beloved $250K educrats refusing to bargain. And when their Hail Mary pass was destroyed by the striking teachers, THEN Wynne and her PC-lite crew "have no option."
@rockdoc82@SylviaJonesMPP@OntarioNDP I'm a partial-load teacher and I make about $17 an hour because I spend 60 hours a week grading papers, meeting students, and preparing class materials. I don't know from one semester to the next if I even have a job. Saying I "have it good" demonstrates startling ignorance.
@Tastic1@SylviaJonesMPP@OntarioNDP Wow. Ms. Wynne and Ms. Matthews are "owned by the unions" after forcing an end to labour action by a union with massive worker and public support, and saying "both sides are at fault" when only the colleges refused to bargain in good faith Try thinking about things for a change.
@GaryWight6@SylviaJonesMPP@OntarioNDP A subject that came up on the line, but we thought July 31 would be better because it would ensure students knew in advance not to send tuition cheques to pay the inflated salaries of the $250K educrats who are systematically destroying Ontario colleges.
@karenatcmg @Kathleen_Wynne Ms. Wynne is representing her main constituency, the $250K-per-year educrats who run the colleges and are enabling a "gig economy" for teaching staff, a grave failing of both teachers and students.
@griswold12 I don't, and they aren't. But since even this short sentence is error-riddled and stupid. I'm blocking you. I don't mind a discussion with a thinking person, but I am not wasting my time with an ignoramus.
@college_profess @PLatSeneca Let me clarify slightly: CEC is indeed bargaining for itself, which means for senior educrats like $425,000 presidents and $290,000 Sr VPs. They don't care for teachers, staff, or, especially, students. For them, the college system is a business run to benefit its manager class.
@PLatSeneca Correct. The two sides had worked out an agreement on all but the Academic Freedom part. Then the colleges withdrew from the table and from their agreement, and instead set up this forced vote, which is way worse than what they agreed AND way worse than their original offer!
I wonder of part of the labour issue here is that the people running the colleges insist on using a "business model." Colleges ARE NOT BUSINESSES. They are public services, and should be operated as such. #collegestrike#ontariocollegestrike#standwithfaculty
@Jane70823060 @goldyloxe @Capraig@local244 The colleges are forcing a vote on their offer, in which they go back on agreements they already made on almost every issue. Only item left to bargain was no-cost item about academic freedom, which is the right of your instructors to teach content the way they think best.
@clmnutrition You deserve a refund, of tuition and other fees. Contact the college and your MPP. Fees paid for services not delivered is fraud-ish, right?
@cmcintyre7 Demand it, & get classmates too. Otherwise colleges win from unfair labour practice: they keep your tuition, don't pay my (small) salary.
@Richard_NSeven I and my fellow instructors agree with you. I personally (not speaking for anyone else) think you deserve a refund for any untaught weeks.
@CAATA_local562 @Kathleen_Wynne Or tell Premier and Matthews to cut pay to non-teaching admin staff (esp. presidents and CEOs at $200K+) so they can increase teacher pay!
