The outage map on your website is effectively useless. It cannot be meaningfully zoomed, neighborhood details are unreadable, and it provides no actionable information for residents trying to understand their situation.
More importantly, the accompanying updates offer no insight whatsoever into when power might be restored. There is no prioritization, no explanation of scope, and no sense of how resources are being allocated. As a resident, I have no way of knowing whether hundreds of linemen are working across dozens of neighborhoods—or concentrated in just a handful of locations while thousands of customers wait in the dark.
Stating that “900 linemen are deployed” is not meaningful without context. It raises more questions than it answers: How many active repair sites are there? How many customers are impacted per site? What criteria are being used to determine order of restoration? Without this information, these updates amount to little more than public relations placeholders.
This level of communication reflects an organization that is not operating with the transparency, professionalism, or operational rigor expected of a public utility. At every level—planning, execution, and communication—NES has failed to meet a basic standard of competence.
