@JAMette14@ferrogan@DanPriceSeattle @Divorce_Silver Don't worry they've been steadily and deliberately running our wonderful NHS into the ground here in the UK too.
Your US playbook is being subtly copied and actioned by our corupt right wing govt, all for private offshore profit 💵. #NHSBirthday#SaveOurNHS
At a time when one in four children in this country is in poverty, the decision has been made to give the Royal Family a 45% pay rise from £86 million to £125 million a year.
The subtext to the pictures of Starmer and Blair grinning together is that, until even a year ago, Blair wanted a new party on the centre right that wasn’t tied to unions.
He doesn’t say that anymore because it’s what Labour now is.
Some thoughts:
(i) Osborne is more responsible than almost anyone for the dire state of this country, criminally so;
(ii) there's lots of truly exciting economic thinking today, and they won't touch any of it;
(iii) what do they *actually* disagree about?

I never get tired of the National Gallery, but I saw the After Impressionism exhibit there today and it was really something special. Picasso, van Gogh, Cézanne, Signac, Degas, Gaugin and more and more.
It's amazing to see them up close. Really recommend it if you have time!
Shapps has a cheek to talk about the risk of people having a heart attack or stroke during an ambulance strike
The average waiting time for an ambulance on a non-strike day if you have a stroke is now 90 minutes, not the target 18 mins #bbclaurak
The con is to believe the tax-based NHS system is somehow broken and that a new way of paying for healthcare will fix it. There is no cheaper way. Nothing the govt has planned costs less. The public always pay for healthcare.
Let me explain…
@GeorgeMonbiot "Does Britain have to continue with the project of the Tories and New Labour to destroy the best health system in the world? And to turn it into the worst system in the world? They’re trying to turn it into the US system, which is the worst in the world."

Wow!
@BBCNews found a woman whose daughter’s outpt appointment was cancelled today.
They clearly thought she would be anti the nurses strikes.
Instead she gave the most intelligent and empassioned argument for decent pay for nurses I have heard yet.
Bravo!
1/12 This report was written by a train driver following an incident on his train. It is a detailed summation of what happened when one of his passengers was taken ill on board…
@MattGarrahan@AaronBastani@MishalHusain That's a load of rubbish, Lynch is right to call out the Media time and again, he has you with agendas rattled. BBC repeatedly dwelling on the wrong issues as a key distraction from the rife inequality, corporate greed and corruption.
This isn't that complex. The NHS is chronically underfunded, its staff are underpaid and overworked. Staff retention is appalling. Until this is undone by *funding it properly*, any talk of "reform" is absurd - unless you're ideologically committed to some other kind of reform...
One of the things Elon Musk is trying to sell us on right now is that he cares about democracy. But that doesn’t really make sense because the very existence of billionaires like Musk runs counter to democracy. If that sounds like I’m taking it too far, here’s a quick thread 🧵
