@roblesslie @phunt72 @TBrit90 Think the idea is just for training, there’s plans to purchase dedicated ASW craft at some point but it’s probably long off given our procurement history. We did recently also purchase 3 maritime patrol aircraft. Can’t remember the exact model off the top of my head though

Anyone arguing that minor damage to a US aircraft, sustained while lollygagging over hostile airspace is an epoch altering event is arguing the US military is so strong that the mere damaging of one of its weapons is a great feat.

I understand decoys exist but i think it’s very clear that the ones hit aren’t decoys. You also sent 10 videos and not one shows a decoy the size of a heavy lift cargo plane.

@PhilKimby @RobGilbey Why not both? We’re a rich country and even if we did become food and energy independent we would still need a way to defend the infrastructure from air attack, just look at the Russian campaign against the Ukrainian energy facilities

@PhilKimby @RobGilbey I’m not saying that at all. I stated quite clearly that only in the scenario that the US attacks us would there be a chance of them being destroyed before they could be launched against literally any other country they would be a real deterrent

@PhilKimby @RobGilbey I’d also like to add that we don’t even need to be invaded to lose a war. We aren’t food or energy independent. A naval blockade with only a handful of surface and air targeting missiles and we’d have no power or food in a matter of weeks. 5 million rifles are useless then

@PhilKimby @RobGilbey The best terrain defense we have is being an island. Enemies have to come by sea or air. I’d much prefer anti-ship missiles and AA as deterrence than be occupied and hope we can win afterwards

@PhilKimby @RobGilbey But we don’t have a rifle for every person, we barely have a rifle for every soldier so we’d still be giving money to the weapon manufacturers to do that,If you think training every citizen and giving them weapons is genuinely a good solution we can’t have a normal conversation.
