Ireland is legislating to allow Gardaí to use facial recognition technology under the Garda Síochána (Recording Devices) (Amendment) Bill 2025.
They say it’s “limited” and only for serious crime.

But here’s the truth: to look for one face, the system must analyse every face.

That’s surveillance of everyone…by design.

Facial recognition can’t search for one person without scanning everyone in the footage. Innocent people included. Retrospective searches included.

Once this exists, the scope will expand. It always does.
To find one face, they analyse them all.
That’s mass surveillance….whether they admit it or not.
