No surprise we love Mendelssohn. One of our earliest discoveries, his Theme and Var, written in his final year later published in op.81. We’re in the process of recording all of his quartets, as well as sister Fanny’s Eb qtet for @LinnRecords . Happy happy birthday, Felix!!

Our programmes spanned a musical time frame from Haydn’s op.64 (1790) to Bruckner’s quartet (1862), hence the use of a chin rest to aid in shifting between notes for later repertoire, introduced by Louis Spohr in the 1820s.
