In New York City, Maia Bartaia, Consul General of Georgia and President of the Society of Foreign Consuls, chaired the latest working meeting of the SoFC Executive Committee. The meeting focused on the organization’s ongoing and planned activities. We were pleased to welcome Ana Maria Archila, Commissioner for International Affairs of the New York City Mayor’s Office. She shared the priorities and upcoming initiatives of the Mayor’s Office, and we discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between New York City and the diplomatic community. The #UNGA has adopted the resolution on the status of #IDPs and refugees from Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region of🇬🇪 with a record 107 votes in favour.
We thank all states that stood with🇬🇪 & supported the right of displaced persons to a safe, dignified and unhindered return.
Consul General Maia Bartaia met with the leadership of Tulane University during her working visit to Louisiana.
The parties discussed strengthening academic cooperation, including joint research projects, student/faculty exchanges, and institutional partnerships. Tulane University expressed strong readiness to develop concrete initiatives with Georgian higher education institutions.

Consul General of Georgia in New York, Maia Bartaia, paid a working visit to New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 29–30, 2026. The Consul General met with New Orleans Deputy Mayor Kevin Ferguson and Deputy Mayor for International Affairs Renee Lapeyrolerie.
The parties discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in culture, education, and economy, as well as prospects for establishing sister-city relations between Georgian port cities and New Orleans.

At the 8th European Political Community Summit in 🇦🇲, joined a roundtable on “Connectivity & Economic Security in the Green Transition.”
I emphasized Georgia’s strategic role as a reliable bridge between Europe and Asia and highlighted the importance of connectivity for economic security and long-term stability.
Supported by the Consulate General of Georgia in New York, the New York Stock Exchange hosted a Georgian Business Forum at Rockefeller Center, where Georgian companies presented their products to Wall Street New York Magazine
