After testing 40 well-known grocery products sold across the nation, together with @consumerreports , we found something deeply concerning: 1 in 4 products tested exceeded daily safety levels for additives in just one serving.
From breakfast cereals and sodas to snacks, desserts, and processed meats, additives have become nearly impossible to avoid in our food supply. Yet many of these substances remain widely used, even as growing scientific evidence links them to potential health concerns — and even as other countries have banned or more strictly regulated them.
Here’s what we found:
🔴 1 in 4 products contained additive levels in a single serving that exceeded daily safety levels identified by U.S. or European public health agencies.
🧪 When measured against broader levels of concern identified in peer-reviewed scientific research, nearly two thirds, 25 of the 40 products, exceeded at least one reference level.
❌ One popular product contained 261 mg of titanium dioxide in a single serving — more than 760 times the combined amount found in the three other products tested that contained this additive. Titanium dioxide has been banned in food in the European Union since 2022.
Consumers deserve a food system that puts health and safety first — and stronger oversight is long overdue. ✊
