"IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME!"
I was waiting for this one to drop. Fair play to her if she's walking it all back but this the equivalent of saying "everyone was doing it".
Lisa Nandy had no problem using X when it helped Labour get elected. She's posted on here over 10'000 times in total since 2009.
Now she's in government, facing far greater scrutiny, she's suddenly decided the platform is the problem.
After being Community Noted multiple times and turning off replies to many of her posts in the last 12 months, walking away from X looks less like a principled stand and more like an attempt to avoid criticism.
If you're in public office, scrutiny comes with the job. Running away from it is spineless.
Christian Leaders in Southern Lebanon: “Annex Us to Israel”
Leaders of the Christian community in southern Lebanon have made an extraordinary appeal for their communities to be annexed to Israel and granted full Israeli citizenship, arguing that “the real occupation is Hezbollah.” While Israel has made clear that such a move is not under consideration because it would contradict the understandings reached with the Lebanese government, the request underscores Lebanon’s deep internal divisions and the growing alignment against the Iranian threat.

80% of DSA members have a college degree.
60% work professional jobs.
Just 4% are blue-collar.
85% are white.
This isn't a working-class movement but an elite one, for whom "Free Palestine" and "Abolish ICE" operate as a smokescreen for class privilege—just like climate and trans activism and identity politics once did.
Evidence should drive policy, not the other way around. Our latest publication examines the facts behind the draft Conversion Practices Bill, and why Parliament must scrutinise it carefully:
https://t.co/fgtpgmWsdh
Parliament should now ask some simple questions:
🔵How many genuine cases of conversion therapy did the £360,000 helpline receive?
🔵How many resulted in police investigations?
🔵Which harms are not already covered by existing criminal law?
🔵Why does the government believe a new offence is necessary?
🔵Why is the government relying on a widely criticised Stonewall opinion survey as its main source of evidence?
Researchers examined records from around 13,500 Galop clients over three years. From those they identified:
🔵371 potential cases of conversion practice
🔵195 cases with sufficient detail for analysis
🔵just 132 recent cases
🔵only 29 cases that came through any of Galop’s helplines.
A conversion-practices ban looks like a solution in search of a problem.
When the helpline was commissioned, officials expected as many as 10,000–15,000 callers every year. Instead, the evidence presented in the report strongly suggests that only a handful of conversion-therapy reports were ever received.

As covered by @Daniel_J_Martin for @Telegraph: “Sex Matters questioned the figures cited by ministers…. A report published last month by Galop, the charity that runs the helpline, suggested the number of calls it received about conversion therapy was far lower.”

Why is the government claiming to have evidence that 90,000 people a year suffer conversion therapy when almost no cases were ever reported to its national helpline?🧵

Professor Brian Cox is among scientists warning of a physics and astronomy funding disaster under Labour.
Science Secretary, Liz Kendall, recognised the problem in March. But yesterday in parliament pretended that there’s no problem at all.
Our incredible science talent base is one of the UK's remaining advantages since Labour pushed up tax, regulation and energy costs. Yet it's now at risk.
The Sec of State is not powerless here. First, she could stop millions being spent on nutty research projects. Second, she could tell Ed Miliband to reverse the crazy policies that are driving up the cost of energy for our vital, energy-intensive science facilities.
Our Patron Dr Az Hakeem spent decades as the only consultant psychiatrist in the UK offering open-ended, exploratory psychotherapy for people presenting with gender dysphoria. He joined LGB Alliance co-founder Bev Jackson to talk about what good therapeutic support actually looks like - and why it matters.

Excellent question. The same lies & obfuscation from @JuliaGillard as we get from @NicolaSturgeon. Men couldn't be women in 2012 any more than they can now. These women both deliberately sought to destroy women's rights.

Can we stop describing people with transgender ideation as having gender dysphoria, very few of them do have it, and if they do, the distress arises from a belief gender can be different from sex while remaining the same category. It is, therefore stress arising from an internalised category error, which in turn arises from the ideation. Throw in a little body dysmorphia, or porn addiction, or autism, and the delusional distress hardens. Kids are groomed into faking gender dysphoria to get the medicalisation their groomers (who are seeking some form of validation or sexual kick) have convinced them they need.
The only thing that is real is the ideation, and that is preventable and curable.
Step 1: Stop validating transgenderism
Mel Brooks once described humour as a ‘defence against the universe’. The stellar line-up for Stand-Up For Jews! at the Leicester Square Theatre proved that it’s also our best weapon against hate, says Adam Chapman
