@fewerwrong Sure, Valve is only using 4x total cameras, which only puts them +1x over the 8 Gen 3's limit, but having to process ANY camera feeds on the CPU's a notable hit!
And the CPU perf hit for the inside-out tracking algorithm's SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than camera processing regardless!
@fewerwrong ESPECIALLY as the Reality Elite retains/improves all of the XR2 Gen 2's VR/AR specific ASIC blocks (ie for inside-out SLAM tracking or >3x simultaneous camera feeds [up to 12x]), making the CPU performance gain SIGNIFICANTLY bigger for VR vs the 8 Gen 3 than it'd otherwise be! π€·
@fewerwrong The only properly useful addition w/ the 8 Gen 3 vs XR2 Gen 2 is WiFi 7, but w/o routers being available w/ proper MLO capabilities it doesn't really add anything of value for VR vs 6GHz WiFi 6E. π€·
(Auto-6/5/2.4GHz handoff ability is only really useful for phones/tablets/PC's.)
@UniverseIce π€¦ Not bringing back the under display camera for the main display's an ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY on a native 4:3 widescreen foldable aimed at media consumption...
Other than that it's basically perfect, but not bringing the UDC back is an even bigger problem than it was on Fold 7... π€·
@IcexAoki@PragmaticPrisma@HYPERMYSTx Although once Turtle Rock was done developing Left 4 Dead Valve decided to close the studio, which is why Valve proper were the ones who made Left 4 Dead 2 instead. The Turtle Rock guys otoh would immediately relaunch the studio as an independent company and start work on Evolve.
@IcexAoki@PragmaticPrisma@HYPERMYSTx Valve's involvement with the development of the original Left 4 Dead was pretty much limited to normal publisher tasks, in addition to help with menial stuff like QA work. Valve proper had literally zero part in the design/core programming of that game.
@IcexAoki@PragmaticPrisma@HYPERMYSTx Because studio's change over decades lol. The people that made B2B aren't the same people who made L4D. (Some of them were, but FAAAAAR from all). Also, not every game from a given studio is always a guaranteed banger. Almost every quality studio has the occasional dud. π€·
@Rucas1972@BrooklynGuyNBA ... Except Texas (& thus San Antonio) was never in French Louisiana... It was owned by the Spanish Empire and then later Mexico after the latter's war of independence.
Texas didn't join America until after the newly independent Republic of Texas kicked Santa Anna's ass in a war.
@homiequan_xv@milaviic_@FrenchRapUS Nobody his size has EVER been EVEN CLOSE to as mobile, fast, responsive, accurate, and physically durable as Wemby has been so far... Once you go past around β215cm most people become WORSE basketball players, not better. Being that tall normally makes you slow and fragile.
@RandomCouscous@FrenchRapUS π€¦ ... For basketball the NBA Finals IS the World Cup... This is the bball equivalent of winning a WC Semi. It's IMPORTANT!!
(International bball's getting better & more competitive w/ every year that passes, but the NBA Finals are still BY FAR the sport's single biggest stage.)
@Orochimmarowav@CerfiaFR Being ridiculously super tall isn't a "cheat code for basketball". Usually it's anything but. Being a giant can turn someone into a MONSTER high school player, but at the NBA level it usually means more problems than positives. Wemby is one of one.

@Nathan_fr44850@CerfiaFR ... If being super tall was ACTUALLY "straight up cheating" in basketball then every team would be filled with >7' giants... But they're not (& it's not because those people don't exist). Being "too tall" normally causes a TON of issues for being an NBA caliber player.
