Our trout are here! After attending a fantastic #troutintheclassroom conference yesterday, Cooper 6 students are now caretakers of ~150 eggs. We'll raise them for the next eight months at which time they will be released into our local watershed. #scarsdalemspride
Earlier today, Cooper 6 had a virtual visit with Dr. Alan Eustace, current record holder of the world's highest skydive! His engaging and interactive presentation helped students to prepare for the Product of Learning for our current Experimental Design unit.

This year, the Cooper 6 team is focusing on #Resilience. From designing the sturdiest LEGO Towers to devising a PBIS currency system, our students are demonstrating grit and perseverance. We even have a tardigrade mascot! (Name forthcoming)

As an optional enrichment activity, Cooper 6 students were tasked with building Tensegrity Sculptures. These perplexing products utilize tension and compression forces to create balanced works of S.T.E.A.M. On display now outside of the Cooper house office. #scarsdalemspride

The 2022 Halloween Spooktacular was a success! We learned about everything from pressure to thermodynamics and sublimation to double replacement reactions. #scarsdalemspride
Students were able to make observations of a real parachute canopy used by a member of the military. It was way bigger than we thought! Great inspiration for our end of unit Products of Learning: creating parachutes for eggs! #LATIC#scarsdalemspride

Cooper 6 welcomed a new batch of trout eggs into our science classroom courtesy of #troutintheclassroom. Over the next seven months we will tend to our ‘hover’. In May they will be released into the Croton Watershed. #scarsdalemspride

The weather was perfect today (albeit a little chilly) for our trip to @OuthouseOrchard! Cooper 6 students and teachers bonded while navigating a corn maze, picking some apples/pumpkins, taking a hayride, and getting a lesson on bees. The honey was delicious! #scarsdalemspride
In addition to Cultivating Kindness in Cooper 6 this year (Intentional alliteration), we are also working on managing anxiety in science class. We worked on Exposure Hierarchies and Coping Cards so far. #scarsdalemspride
