I am a woman.
I am a mother.
I am an adult human female.

Only women can be women and our language is important.

Women and girls have to stay visible in the language used in public life.

This shouldn't even be a debate, but sadly, it now is.

This parliamentary petition has been created to call upon government departments, the NHS, education and other publicly funded bodies to treat the words women, girls, mothers and pregnant women as the default in policy, guidance and public messaging.

Not as merely a footnote in our own sex category.

Plain, sex-specific language is not a nicety. It matters in healthcare, safeguarding, schools, data and public policy.

Women do not deserve to be erased, we are 51% of the population and not just an afterthought.

A 63 yr old man lumbering around in womanface is in a women's changing room. He's asking on another platform whether he should "transition," and of course the comments are already flooding in with enthusiastic yesses.

No consideration for the women already there. No thought given to why women have single-sex spaces in the first place.

It's not just toilets. It's hospital wards, changing rooms and other single-sex spaces. In the last year alone there have been thousands of rapes in hospitals and hundreds in changing rooms linked to mixed-sex access, because men are the main danger to women, and this proves it. The answer is no: they should use the men's facilities, the same as the law has always required. Disabled people have rights too and they shouldn't be forced to step aside for perverts.
