9% VAT helps the big chains, not the small cafés & restaurants hanging by a thread. Targeted measures were needed. More closures ahead 😔
Still — Dublin–Derry flights back in 2026 is positive for the NW. Rail next @Paschald? 🚂🤞🏼

@PaulTreyvaud This is exactly why we closed our seasonal F&C biz in ’23. Great product, loyal following, strong revenue—but once all the bills were paid, nothing left. Raise prices? Cue the Seans shouting “rip-off!” So there was nothing else for it but to shut it down.
☕ Summers in Donegal ... Beach walks, open fires & the slow rhythm of Donegal life.

Super event at #cbtc24 today. Thanks @DundalkChamber for inviting us along to tell our story. Lots of great takeaways from @poloconghaile@zomabranding & Mike Ahern from Wildlands, and from chatting to the other delegates. So much positivity in the room!
Restaurant, café and other food-led hospitality business closures continue
“You’re battling costs increasing everywhere, and your only choice to deal with that is to put up prices,” said Rebecca Feely, owner of popular Dublin cafe Kale and Coco which closed its doors for the final time at the weekend.
As we have warned time and time again, the busy Christmas season will not prove enough to keep the doors of many local establishments open and, without meaningful Government intervention, current closure levels will only escalate in the New Year.

A great piece by chef Tom Kerridge - "The magic of restaurants requires ‘very hard work"
Let's not take our amazing food businesses for granted. Cause when they're gone, they're gone.

Imagine a world with no individual shops, cafes or restaurants. No unique pieces of art, fashion or music. Horrible isn't it? A timely reminder that it will be reality if we don't support small businesses, producers & craftspeople. So let's all #supportsmallbusiness#supportlocal
A view that’s worth the whispers… 👂 👄
