Building a $50 million center in the hood should be celebrated.
Not ignored.
Not minimized.
Not rewritten.

But in Chicago, if you don’t fit the narrative of the left or the comfort of the elites, your work doesn’t count.
Even when it’s lifting kids.
Creating jobs.
Saving lives.

I didn’t build this for applause. I built it for people who were told they didn’t matter.
Still… the silence is loud.

We keep building anyway.
Because the block knows.
And God keeps the receipts.

17 years ago, we stood outside a dangerous motel and said this block deserved better.

We shut it down.
We tore it down.
And today, a nearly $50 million center is rising on that same ground.

Now we’re at the hardest part: finishing.

We need to raise $10 million more to complete the center and help launch a school that will give children on Chicago’s South Side an opportunity to change the trajectory of their lives.

We didn’t come this far to stop this close.

I’m looking for 3 kinds of people:

Those who will GIVE.
Those who will INTRODUCE me to someone who can give.
Those who will SHARE this story with America.

Amazing photo. I remember being on the rooftop with the pastor on days when no one was listening and there seemed no way forward. The cold was unbearable. But @CoreyBBrooks never wavered, not once. Now a massive new center is on the verge of opening in place of this motel that was infested with crime, drugs, and sex trafficking. Thank God for the pastor’s faith.

17 YEARS AGO, THIS WAS JUST A VISION.

We stood in front of this motel determined to shut down a place that had become a symbol of everything wrong in our community.

People could see the motel.

We could see what could replace it.

We protested it.
We shut it down.
We tore it down.

And today, on this same property, we are building a center dedicated to opportunity, education, jobs, families, and hope.

That is what VISION does—it allows you to see what doesn’t exist yet.

That is what DETERMINATION does—it keeps you fighting when transformation takes longer than you expected.

And that is what TRANSFORMATION looks like—you don’t just complain about what’s wrong. You stay long enough, work hard enough, and believe God enough to build what should be there instead.

17 years ago, we stood outside a motel protesting what this block had become.

Today, we stand on that same ground building what this block is becoming.

From a motel to a movement.
From hopelessness to opportunity.
From what was to what can be.

Never underestimate what God can do with a vision and people determined not to quit.

We didn’t leave the neighborhood. We stayed and changed it.

Chicago found $639.6 MILLION to serve migrants and asylum seekers.

Meanwhile, children on the South Side are sitting in schools where far too many can’t read or do math at grade level.

I believe in compassion—but when did taking care of Chicago’s own children stop being a priority?

My heart is broken tonight.

Today, we drug tested 16 girls in our program—just 12 to 17 years old. Eleven tested positive for drugs, including THC, Percocet, and fentanyl.

These are CHILDREN.

Behind every positive test is a young girl who needs intervention, love, accountability, healing, and hope—not another statistic.

We cannot normalize this. We cannot look away. We cannot wait until another child dies.

I’m hurt. I’m angry. And I’m more determined than ever to fight for our children.

We have to save them while we still can.

Chicago spent $13.5 MILLION in taxpayer-backed efforts to address food access—and our neighborhoods are still watching grocery stores disappear.

But we’re almost at the finish line.

Now seven grocery stores are CLOSED—and families on the South and West Sides are left staring at empty shelves.

We keep being told government is the answer. But what happens when government-backed solutions fail the very people they promised to help?

I live this. My neighborhood doesn’t even have a supermarket.
