@LourdesFaberes @Screendaily@REGYATES @marley_morrison @BIFA_film Lourdes! How lovely to hear from another fantastic leading woman of my past. And thank you! π
Oh COME ON! Seriously? How many stories have Apple/Disney/Amazon financed that instruct us saving the planet is probably a good thing to aim for.

New Review!
@AcornMedia are doing great work bringing movies from @Shudder to Blu-Ray, and @CorinnaFaith's The Power is the latest. A film that took @_RJSimpson by surprise in many pleasant ways.

Made me think again about the personally mind blowing and raw book, 'House of Psychotic Women' by Kier-la Janise @bigsmashkierla about one woman's relationship with the horror genre. Lots of you will know but if you don't, read it. Complexity laid bare. Love that book.
Just in more insidious forms. The horror genre has not been alone in that. And also contained some of the only active lead female characters I ever saw. So it's been a complex balancing act. As it has been for all viewers who fall in love with the medium, but are not that POV
In a talk yesterday I was asked about misogyny in horror genre, if that was an issue for me. Later, realised I haven't thought about it that way for a long while. Maybe because, rewatching films I was raised on with my daughter, sexism/misogyny is present in abundance in so many
@pranobaileybond@DinardFilm@thepower@rose_williams_@robertjwatson In my mind I was already on the train, so it's a bit of a brutal turn around. But get a sense for me of how a real life audience responds to the The Power, if it comes up, compadre. And have a blast.
Was SO looking forward to leaving for @DinardFilm festival today to see @ThePower screened with a live cinema audience for the first time. But covid had other plans for me π£
Big thanks to Dinard for having our film in competition. Have fun.

ποΈREVIEW "An elegantly balanced period horror charged by a searingly relevant feminist undercurrent; @CorinnaFaith's gripping East End chiller #ThePower, elevated by a stunning turn from @rose_williams_, is a riveting yarn with genuine scares and razor sharp political commentary"
