... but the prize went to Sean Murphy for a win over John Healy in Rd 3 where he converted a good advantage into a crushing win with a lovely rook sacrifice and the most brilliant moment of the weekend https://t.co/BRPDTmbFeK
A great weekend for the Cork Congress has just concluded. We had to move online this year due to Covid but thanks to hard work by @Gubbins we were able to put on a show!
The brilliancy prize in the Masters was closely contested between two games. Special Mention to Tim Harding’s win over Jason Liu in Rd 2, a good instructive game with high accuracy and a very efficient finish. https://t.co/fOzGSeeYEi ...
HI @Ficheall_ie. We'll be hosting the Cork Chess Congress online this year due to Covid-19. Entry is just 5 euro and would be great experience for some of your students. https://t.co/1sag08vaeF
Due to Covid-19 the Cork Chess Congress will be moving to an online event this year from the 2nd October to the 4th October. Games are 45mins + 30 second increment. Entry is just 5 euro and you can enter online here https://t.co/JTze7I5kkK
The big elephant in the room is the level of online cheating. 6 of the top 10 had their accounts closed for fair play violations. https://t.co/WV21xGAt9n. Great that @chesscom is catching them but a pity that it happens at all. Would love to know how many were banned in total.
Bit of a mixed bag for our participants in the European Online Chess Championship section A. Some great experience for our juniors - unfortunately one of them was hit with a @chesscom server issue and was turfed out after R4 - a common enough issue judging from the online chat.
Was interesting to analyse this tournament to see the prospects for online chess. Ratings bands seem hard to enforce - this was based on FIDE ratings but the majority of the leaderboard have https://t.co/FIPrfy4ru6 ratings far in excess of 1400.
Best of luck to everyone from Cork Chess Club taking part in the European Online Rapid Championship today https://t.co/fEHofy61jt. This is section A so some of of juniors are taking part. Hopefully you will get some competitive games and some good results!
Game, set and match to Cork Chess in our @4NCL game against Wimbledon B last week https://t.co/PfxEfYTDGy. A great 3-1 victory with some cracking games. (Out of respect we won't mention the player who spoiled the clean sweep - your secret's safe with us Michael Bradley!)
Another reminder of our online Cork chess club at lichess. If you are in the Cork area and wish to join, you can do so here https://t.co/RXPk4sEfMk and add a message saying who you are.
