Fantastic turnout today to honor fellow Bay Area scribe Mike Wagaman, aka “Wags.” He was always smiling, always upbeat, always grateful to write about sports. His spirit lives on!

[Gregg Bell @gbellseattle]

Flew down to Vallejo to honor, remember my close bestie from Raiders days, the late Mike Wagaman. Would’ve been his 60th birthday.

Son Michael wore Wags’ Super Bowl cred+his fave team jerseys. He’s an ultra-strong young man.

Saw dear Bay Area friends. Tears, laughs, love #RIP💔

Greg Papa, voice of the 49ers (& more):
“A lot of it is like they’re eulogizing me. (MFers), I ain’t dead. I’m here in the back of the church. I’m fine. It’s been a weird, out-of-body experience. But it’s been amazing, brother. It’s a total epiphany.”

Want to share my tribute on Seattle radio @933KJR for my guy, our guy, Mike Wagaman.

My great friend from years of hilarity on the Raiders beat, Wags died last weekend in his Bay Area. He was 59.

If you are so lucky, please squeeze the ones you love. You never know❤️

[Phil Barber @Skinny_Post]

Three days after getting the news, I'm still heartbroken over the loss of my friend Mike Wagaman. There was no one like him in the press box. True to the working class. Feisty. Took no shits. And players/coaches respected him, because they saw he put in the work. Godspeed, Wags.

Michael Wagaman was a friend to all.

Those of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives were better for it, @MontePooleNBCS writes

Hi everyone. I wrote a book. It’s about my 40 years covering the game and the concurrent growth of the game. Loved re-reporting some of my favorite stories, one per year, over 4 decades. Out in October. Preorder here: https://t.co/LnZpEnoLXx

[Steve Corkran @CorkOnTheNFL]

@Raiders @CharlesWoodson For that, #Raiders fans can thank Jon Gruden. Al Davis did not want to draft Charles Woodson. The fascinating story is detailed in “Al Davis: Behind the Raiders Shield”

Buy the book on Amazon for that and numerous other never-before-told stories about Davis and the Raiders.

Yes, that’s me. Amazing how I haven’t changed a bit from my 1975 Enfield (Conn.) HS graduation photo.

So I’ve got a cause and I need your help to raise $100,000.

We're going to save sports at Enfield Public Schools (@EnfieldPS), and here's how we're going to do it:
