St Colman’s girls BLITZ cricket!

TY girls of St Colman’s Midleton recently completed a 6 hour immersive cricket programme known as “It’s Wicket”. The level of skill and energy on display was such that pathway Manager Jeremy Bray issued an invitation for the girls to attend Munster Women’s training the following week- and four girls duly did! Great to see schools cricket opening doors to more females potentially joining clubs and playing competitively.

Huge thanks to TY Co-ordinator Lorraine O Tuama for all her hard work in making the programme happen, and to Cork Sports Partnership for their steadfast support of MCU programmes.

🌟Munster Cricket and Cork Sports Partnership are delighted to announce the return of this fun beginners women’s fitness through CricHIIT cricket programme! This class is a bat and ball game with a difference.

Not only will people learn the skill but they will also have fun and simultaneously get fit without knowing it. There will be a series of warm-ups, core and upper body movements and of course, picking up the strategy, skill and athleticism involved with the game.

Today’s cricket session was delivered at Strawberry Hill NS, Blarney Road. The session focused on fun, competitive games designed to keep the children actively involved and motivated throughout.

Activities included Captain’s Catch and Skittles, which were organised as competitive games to encourage teamwork, focus, and healthy competition. The students participated enthusiastically and showed great effort, with high energy levels and positive engagement from start to finish.
