Large household appliances come in a wide range of sizes and weights, however, as not all factories can produce all variants, reusable packaging would need to be returned to the factory of origin, increasing use of resources and emissions.

New packaging regulations must be based on an industry-specific impact assessment to determine the most sustainable option.

One great benefit of #cardboard is that it can be customised to package anything. This increases protection and ensures that over-packaging is eliminated. The same cannot be said about reusable solutions.

According to an LCA study by @ramboll on the fruit&veg supply chain, plastic crates would need to be reused 63 times to outperform the footprint of #corrugated #cardboard. Plastic is not the answer.
