The biggest difference between theological liberals of old and modern theological liberals is that they used to tell the truth.
They used to readily acknowledge that they denied orthodoxy.
Now they lie, often to themselves, and call it pragmatism.
@bartbarber Remember how Jason was on video saying how having female pastors was “biblical”?
And how he was convinced that this was about “Baptist heritage” and not “Scripture”?
And how he had done extensive study that was making him “more sure” that he was right?
🤔
@merelyjwright If Jason was so convinced of his position after his extensive studies, why is it now changing?
If this is about Baptist heritage and not Scripture, why is he “submitting” to it?
Could it be because he’s obviously playing semantic games?
@dennisdjackson@PastorMikeStone Because he’s on the “right side,” so he’s doing the “good” kind of lying.
Also, don’t forget his bizarre lies about the Founders breakfast openly promoting a secret scheme to move the vote for SBC President a couple years back.
He’s a shameless ladder-climber.
There’s alternative history developing around the amendment already, which needs to be clarified.
The Amendment directly addresses a narrow aspect of function. But it does not define function, or say there is only one aspect of function the SBC might ever consider.
@SBCUnderground@ToddUnzicker Unzicker whenever a Baptist actually acts in accordance with Scripture rather than whispering about homosexuality, stealing Church buildings, and platforming egalitarianism
@CarlaPyle2@ptoddhuff Modern church culture is unbiblical and should be demolished.
Also, you’re just wrong. There are countless Churches that actually approach these things Biblically.
The issues of women in pastoral and pastoral-like positions within the SBC could be easily resolved if we just stopped inventing extra-biblical positions within the Church.
There are Elders (Pastors) and Deacons. There’s no such thing as a “Children’s Pastor.”
@ptoddhuff Or here’s a radical thought - stop outsourcing your responsibilities to other people and teach your own children. That’s the pattern laid out in Scripture.
You sit under solid preaching, you learn the Bible, and you teach your children the Word of God.
