The Somaliland Mission in Kenya was pleased to receive H.E. Gideon Behar, Ambassador of @IsraelinKenya for a courtesy visit today.

Amb. Behar met with H.E. Ambasador @DrMohamedOmarr and Deputy Ambassador @SharmakeGeelle for an engaging exchange on matters of mutual interest and the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation.

The Mission values these engagements as we continue to strengthen relations and deepen understanding with our partners in Kenya and beyond.

During his recent visit to Kenya, H.E. President @Abdirahmanirro of the Republic of Somaliland met with H.E. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, at State House, as well as Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, and other senior Kenyan leaders. These engagements provided an important opportunity to further strengthen the Somaliland–Kenya relationship, with discussions covering areas of real potential for greater cooperation, including trade and investment, economic cooperation and matters of shared regional interest.

The President also met with around 20 members of the diplomatic and development community in Nairobi. I considered this an especially important engagement, as it gave the President an opportunity to speak directly about Somaliland’s progress, the priorities of his administration and the opportunities for partnership in areas such as infrastructure, energy, healthcare, investment and economic development. Our partners, in turn, were able to engage the President directly, raise their questions and share their perspectives.

Having worked closely with many of these partners, I was particularly encouraged by the genuine interest in Somaliland and the willingness to engage in a substantive discussion about where our respective interests can meet.
The visit also provided an opportunity to build on relationships and conversations that @SomalilandinKe has been developing throughout the year.

I am grateful to our Kenyan hosts and to the diplomatic and development community for the warm welcome extended to the President and for the openness with which they engaged him. There is considerable goodwill towards Somaliland in Kenya, and we at the Mission are encouraged by this. Our task now is to build on that goodwill, keep these conversations moving and turn the opportunities identified into meaningful partnerships and tangible results for Somaliland.

H.E. President @AbdirahmanIrro received the Committee on Political Associations and National Parties at the Presidency today.

Discussions centred on strengthening democratic institutions and Somaliland’s multiparty system.

H.E. President @AbdirahmanIrro returned to Somaliland today following an official working visit to the Republic of Kenya. The President and the delegation he led returned safely after concluding the visit and completing their official engagements in Kenya.

Following our engagement with the International Community in Nairobi, H.E. Amb. @GideonBehar, Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Seychelles, held a bilateral meeting with Somaliland’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdillahi Omar.

The discussions focused on deepening bilateral relations and advancing the growing Somaliland–Israel partnership through enhanced coordination and sustained diplomatic engagement.

The breakaway state overlooks the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, where Houthis have choked global shipping.

Meeting Ahmed again in Nairobi, at the moment he completed his PhD, carried a special meaning for me. Having known him for nearly a quarter of a century, I have always regarded him as a scholar, mentor and intellectual long before this degree formally affirmed that distinction.

It was a great honor to welcome President @Abdirahmanirro to Jerusalem to begin his first-ever state visit to Israel.

Our task is now to move from declarations to action with people-to-people collaboration in a range of fields between out two wonderful nations.
