🚨 LARNE'S 147FT PALLET SKYSCRAPER — BUILT TO BURN IN ONE NIGHT
Craigyhill bonfire for Eleventh Night, eve of Twelfth — marks King William's 1690 Boyne victory. 18,000 pallets stacked, claimed tallest in world.
Built over weeks by local crews, gone in hours. 🔥
🚨 HEXRUNNER BREAKS COVER — SIX-LEGGED ROBOT RUNS LIKE A WHEEL AT 30MPH 🤖
IHMC Robotics showcase: HexRunner blasts across pavement, grass, and indoors, six legs spinning like a tire, hitting 30+ mph.
Lesser-known: Leg-wheel hybrid = best of both, wheels are fast but die on rough terrain, legs are slow. This runs over curbs at car speeds. Future of battlefield recon. 🏃♂️
🚨 STRATOLAUNCH ROC DROPS TALON-A — MACH 5 HYPERSONIC TEST 🔥
World's largest plane releases Talon-A, rocket ignites and screams toward Mach 5, pure potential to kinetic energy conversion in real time.
Lesser-known: Talon-A is reusable hypersonic testbed, US can test hypersonic tech weekly now instead of yearly. Roc has 385ft wingspan, bigger than football field. 430 watching history. 🚀
🚨 ARIANE 6 MAKES HISTORY — EUROPE'S NEW HEAVY LIFTER REACHES GTO 🇪🇺
Cinematic launch from French Guiana shows Ariane 6 maiden flight to geostationary transfer orbit carrying MTG-I2 weather satellite, Europe back in the game.
Lesser-known: Ariane 6 can lift 11.5 tons to GTO, replaces Ariane 5 after 27 years. MTG-I2 will track storms with 10x resolution. 2 likes but this is huge for EU space. 🚀
🚨 ELENORE PISTON ENGINE — REINVENTS 150-YEAR-OLD DESIGN ⚙️
Unconventional rocker-beam architecture routes 4 pistons through oscillating linkage, eliminates side thrust that kills normal engines.
Lesser-known: Normal pistons scrape cylinder walls sideways = 40% of engine friction. This design kills that wear but adds massive inertia, tradeoff that could 2x engine life if bearings survive. 560 engineers watching. 🔥
🚨 AI DAM COLLAPSE GOES VIRAL — 25K THINK IT'S REAL 🌊
Hyper-realistic AI video shows massive dam exploding into catastrophic flood wave, posted with One Piece caption, commenters convinced it's China.
Lesser-known: AI flood simulations now indistinguishable from real, 90% of viewers can't spot fake. This is how misinformation spreads. 25K fooled. 🤯
🚨 WHY YOUR PARENTS HAVE THAT SMALLPOX SCAR — IT WASN'T A NORMAL SHOT 💉
Close-up shows iconic circular scar, bifurcated needle dipped in vaccinia virus stabbed 15x into skin. Not injected, it was scratched.
Lesser-known: Vaccine was LIVE virus, your body fought a mild infection to build immunity. That pus + scab = permanent mark. Eradicated smallpox forever, but left its signature on a generation. 🧬
🚨 NYC PEDIATRICIAN EXPLAINS WHY BABIES CAN SWIM — MAMMALIAN DIVE REFLEX 👶💧
Dr. Andrew Elliston breaks down why infants hold breath underwater, ancient reflex triggers heart rate drop + airway seal. Looks stressful but builds muscle memory that cuts drowning risk.
Lesser-known: All mammals have it, babies lose it after 6 months if not trained. Formal infant swim = survival skill, not stunt. 130K parents stunned. 🏊
🚨 INSIDE YOUR LIGHT SWITCH — 3D ANIMATION REVEALS THE MAGIC 💡
Looping cutaway shows how toggle + push-button switches actually work, spring, contacts, snap action in perfect slow-mo.
Lesser-known: That "click" is intentional, snap-action mechanism makes/breaks circuit in 0.01s to prevent arcing. Without it, your switch would weld shut and catch fire. Simple genius. ⚡️
🚨 PHANTOM TWIST DRONE — SPINS AT 25 RPS TO TURN INVISIBLE 🌀
Engineers built drone that spins its entire body 25 times per second, human eye can't track it, disappears without camouflage.
Lesser-known: This is called motion blur cloaking, same trick hummingbird wings use. At 25 RPS, retina can't form image, radar still sees it but eye doesn't. 160K stunned. Pure sci-fi IRL. 👻
🌕🤯 THIS MOON HAS BARELY CHANGED FOR BILLIONS OF YEARS
Meet Callisto, one of Jupiter’s largest moons—and one of the most heavily cratered worlds in the Solar System. 🪐
Unlike worlds with active geology, Callisto shows no evidence of current volcanism or Earth-like plate tectonics constantly recycling its surface.
That means ancient impact scars can remain preserved for billions of years, turning Callisto into something like a fossil record of the early Solar System.
Every crater tells the story of a collision that happened long ago.
A world where the surface remembers almost everything that ever hit it. 🌌💥

🤔🚀 FINISH THE SENTENCE…
Earlier this year, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-11 visited NASA Marshall and helped finish a few sentences about their mission.
From life in orbit to the challenges of human spaceflight, hear what the crew had to say about their journey beyond Earth. 🌍🛰️
👨🚀 What would YOU say if you had to finish the sentence?
Watch, listen, and see what Crew-11 had to say. 🚀✨

✈️🔥 HOW POWERFUL ARE JET ENGINES?
A modern commercial jet engine can generate hundreds of kilonewtons of thrust—enough to accelerate an aircraft carrying hundreds of passengers into the sky.
Military fighter engines take things even further.
⚡ Powerful turbofans can produce enormous thrust
🔥 Afterburners inject additional fuel into the exhaust stream, dramatically increasing thrust
🚀 That extra power enables rapid acceleration, high-speed flight, and supersonic performance
And here’s an important distinction:
Jet engines aren’t normally rated in horsepower like car engines.
They’re primarily measured by thrust—the force produced to push the aircraft forward.
Hundreds of tons of aircraft… pushed through the sky by controlled explosions and physics. 🤯✈️
✈️🚢 COULD A C-17 GLOBEMASTER III OPERATE FROM AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER?
The C-17 Globemaster III is remarkably capable. It was designed to operate from relatively short and austere runways.
But an aircraft carrier is a completely different challenge.
A carrier flight deck offers only around 1,000–1,100 feet of usable landing area, while a C-17 normally needs a much longer runway to accelerate to takeoff speed.
And then there’s the launch problem.
🚀 Carrier catapults are designed around much smaller, carrier-based aircraft—not a massive strategic airlifter weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Even with its impressive short-field capabilities, the C-17 was not designed for carrier operations.
Short runway? Yes.
Aircraft carrier? That’s an entirely different engineering problem. 🤯✈️
