@traderalpha20 In 2019 we saw BOTAS use spot LNG to push out contracted imports by private players. That has continued in 2020, but additionally in the last two months (for which we have data), BOTAS has also began taking well below its contracted pipeline volumes from Russia
BOTAS taking an increasingly aggressive approach when it comes to Russian pipeline gas, with the latest data available from EPDK showing imports well below historical norms. This, alongside Iranian imports being offline through Q2, more than offset Y/Y domestic demand losses.
LNG demand the clear winner in the short term, with Turkey one of the few bright spots for spot procurement in H1'20. But the outlook for LNG in Turkey faces an uncertain future given lack of term deals, with much depending on the outcome of talks between BOTAS and Gazprom. #LNG
