If parents could have used AI to easily generate evidence-based activities for learning at home during Covid-19, would the learning losses have been less? 🤔 Can it support resilience for community/home based learning during climate, health or conflict disruptions to schooling?
Instead of thinking about what we can do with AI in education, can we shift the conversation to what persistent problems in education can we solve with AI that we couldn’t solve previously? #eLA23
If an African education policymakers could quickly access an AI-generated summary of 10k+ relevant, locally- contextualized sources, would it increase use of evidence in the design and deployment of large-scale #edtech initiatives? #eLA23
Will AI do more harm than good for education in Africa? Debate at #eLA23. IMO: it depends if we can decolonize the creation and use of AI in education. More data sets with equal representation from Africa, more African AI developers, more AI literacy for educators & learners.
@EnabelinUganda and @RightToPlayIntl in Rwanda using human centered design to co-create effective teacher PD with local teachers & school leaders, including accounting for teacher responsibilities outside of school. #ela23
To support designers & deployers of #edtech to create more #EquityinEdtech we need a common definition of equity & inclusion. Does it only include gender, ability, geography, refugee and mother tongue learners? Or also conflict, climate or health affected learners? #edtech254
@dick_taylor Great point! We also need alignment on evidence standards and better relationships between EdTech startups and researchers so that evidence can be quickly and effectively generated.
Colin Bangay, @FCDOGovUK in Tanzania - ‘Evidence is not enough, just because you have done a great research paper doesn’t mean you will cause change, there has to be great communication.’
