@DevineGospel The Dodgers have “sandbagged” Snell and Glassnow for two years straight. Neither are durable pitchers. While the rest of the league has to log in their pitching for a full year, the Dodgers buy there way out. What I can’t believe is no one from the kiss ass media says a word.
Spot on! I’ve mentioned this “sandbagging” many times over. I can’t believe no one in the media says anything. Then again most are kidding the ring of the Dodgers. Glassnow has been down since May with a muscle pull. All other staffs need to pull through the long season. Not the Dodgers. Now there Sandbagging Ohtani.
Research online- last year the collected luxury tax was $400 Million. Half the money goes towards the players retirement and benefit fund. The remaining $200M is split amongst 21 clubs. This is less than $10M per club. In today’s players salary range that will get you a mid-reliever. Not the impact you’re trying to imply.
I think we know now Lance is a player and not spending his own money. These 29 other owners are success minded people. But, what’s not in their DNA is to lose money on any business venture. Where baseball is today is most teams would need to lose upwards of $200M per year to keep pace with the Dodgers. The revenues are not even per club. Lance, your opinion is appreciated, but you can’t relate because you don’t have any “skin” in the game.
@Rinedog1 Great hitter? Define “great”. He’s a good hitter with no defensive position. Not saying you trade him, but everyone’s definition of “great” varies.
@jmb9191 I think this is media candy. He has another couple of controllable years, there will be a new CBA at the end of this year. He can’t be replaced in a trade. Hang on until the next CBA and see what the financial landscape looks like.
@JeffPassan No suspense to the season Jeff, Dodgers have bought another ticket to the WS. 75% of the league can’t compete on paper. Not meaningful baseball at all when the league is so imbalanced.
