Beware of black ice, especially early in the morning and on shaded county roads, bridges, and overpasses. If you hit a patch, don’t brake suddenly — ease off the gas and steer gently to maintain control.

County Spotlight: Cortland County
The Cortland County Highway Department keeps the community moving—maintaining 247 miles of county roads, 64 bridges, and 115 large culverts. They also oversee Chase Field Airport, Dwyer Memorial Park, and the Solid Waste & Recycling Center.
NYSCHSA President Kevin Hajos previously issued a statement on the SFY 2026 State Budget, addressing the recent increase in CHIPS funding and the ongoing need for sustainable investment in local transportation infrastructure.
